Kevin Cook from the Iowa Bigfoot Information Center INTERVIEW (Member's Only)

Yeah, I believe there was something that was written and I don't know what it was. I'm trying to remember back that's been like in what seventies, selling or something like that. He I believe he had just contacted mister Daton about the sculpture and I met Cliff. Cliff worked for his if I remember right, for his father in law. That was the Chevrolet dealer in North des Moines, Northwest des Moines. I can't remember the name of the Chevy dealership.

1:17 But he married the guy, the gentleman that don't have married his daughter, Betty Lebreck, and I just can't remember for sure how I actually met Cliff, but we started however it was. I might have been looking at the car for all I remember, but we just started talking and visitey and he had mentioned something about Bigfoot, and he was wanting to do this museum replica, and the one thing led to another, and I was young and just started the family, and so I was hesitant about it. But as the replica was finished, we took basically I ended up taking the whole summer off of work when we trackdled with that thing, because I figured it was more of an opportunity to travel with this replica and hopefully get some more information about what people were seeing, and so took off the summer, traveled throughout the Midwest exhibited, talked to a lot of people, talked to a lot of people, law enforcement, while life confrosation conservation officers, people from all walks of life, and it was pretty interesting. And then of course reality sets in when you get done, you got to go back to work, so Bigfoot became more of a part time hobby at that point because you did have to make a living and support a family. And then over the years

2:49 Cliff and I lost contact and I talked to Cliff about a year before he passed away, and we had a good conversation and we talked about some of the people that had come to visit him or that he had visited. I think there's a gentleman up in Idaho that deals with I guess the plastic footprints. Yeah, doctor, doctor Meldrum yep, okay, yeah, he was talking about him and coming to see the one or another he ended up I guess see the replica or Cliff sending pictures or something. But anyway, so we just visited about the past, what was going on, and at that time we decided that we were going to stay in contact. And then, of course, then they passed on and pretty much that was the last communication I had with Cliff. There's a something you said a few minutes ago.

3:46 You did run into some weird things that you can't really explain that you're not really sure. Yeah, I mean I never at the time. I didn't think about them being weird. It's just sounds that you've never that I've never heard before. Growing up in Iowa, the deer hunt and fessant hunt, and I was pretty good hunter, so I was pretty familiar with the woods. And I knew what was going on, and they just hear things that aren't in my mind, just weren't normal. They weren't supposed to be there, and I could never never prove one way or another. But that even teached your curiosity a little bit more when you do hear something that you're not familiar with. Oh, absolutely were they things like tree knocks or whoop or anything like that. Most of it was either a whistle the along the Mississippi River, I believe it was. I had relatives that lived down by Kilcock, and down in that area there was I don't here again, it's been a long time ago, but I remember properly there was some hoops that I had heard down there. Never really got into tree knocks, and I was more focused on vocal vocalizations, and so I didn't really and to be honest with you, if I heard them, I might have passed it off as something else. At that time. I could look back on it and go,

5:17 yeah, I probably heard someone. I didn't know what they were, but I can't say, can't say for certain. So eventually you started with Cliff the Iowa Bigfoot Information Center, which pretty much as a group of you guys that would get together right and you would have them go out and research different reports of bigfoot sightings around Iowa. Is that pretty much the easiest way to describe what the Iowa big Foot Information Center was. Yeah, most of the research was done by either myself or Cliff, or both of us. There was probably from what I can remember, there might have been a couple other people that that I knew that went out with me a couple of times.

6:03 But back then it was a lonely hobby. You didn't have four people out with like said, drones and infrared cameras and everything else under the sun and a bunch of people following you around. You were on your own. All your expenses were your own. And here again just getting into raising the family. He did what you could and try to make the most of it.
