He fired a warning shot. The growling continued. Then he saw its face—about ten feet away.

David Boozer returns to Bigfoot Society to share his son’s reported Bigfoot encounter near Rock Creek in Oregon’s North Umpqua region. A deer hunt took a frightening turn when two young hunters heard a childlike sound, heavy movement through the brush, and a deep growl that David’s son said he could feel through his body.

Then came the mustard-yellow eyes.

David joins Jeremiah Byron to recount the close confrontation, his son’s friend firing at an approaching figure, and a frantic escape down the mountain. Later that night, the friend’s father reportedly returned to investigate. Afterward, he told his son: “We don’t talk about this anymore.”

What did they find when they went back?

Hear the full account in Bigfoot Society Episode 1222 and how that evening changed a young hunter’s relationship with the woods.

0:48 Yeah. But yeah, so just real quick. So David Boozer, Hack West, Bigfoot, correct? Yeah, I'm going to bring it back over to Spreaker, which is actually a podcast. Oh, nice. That's awesome, man. Yeah, I just keep having people ask, especially my mother. And I still got some incidents and stuff to go through, and I figured, why not? But I don't think I'm going to keep a YouTube channel or anything like that anymore. I think I'm just going to keep it to Spreaker because I'm so busy with work and photography. I'm starting to teach a photography class this winter, and it's just busy.

1:37 So you reached out to me, David, about an interesting thing that happened in... It's in the Umpqua National Forest, is that right? Yes, this is up towards Umpqua National Forest. It's fine for people to know, but it was up a Rock Creek Road. It was. If you go way up to the top where... I mean, way... When he took me up there to show me this place... And that's why I can describe it really well. Um, he didn't take me up there for about, it was, it was nearly two and a half months later because he would, he, he, he actually, I actually thought he would never take me up there because he was just, you'll hear that part. His frame of mind was just, yeah, it was bad. and so yeah so but he he took me up there and it's way up rock creek all the way up the mountains there wow so it's it's basically over an hour from where i live just to get up there.

2:44 Really oh my goodness um and what's that what's that main road again that it like goes from uh roseburg and you can take it all the way over to. Diamond lake highway and it's right off of that out of a little place called ottawa i'll tell you a little bit about the evening that he got home first to kind of um explain um why it was it was so life-altering um My son, he he is he's an outdoors kid and he he would go fishing. He'll go hunting. He'll do all these things alone. He's gone up to go fishing up the Umpqua River and into the forest by himself. And he'll just crash out his car or usually he has like a little hammock thing he puts between trees. And, you know, I was letting him do this when he was like 17. And he would he would he would be off in the woods alone. Um, sometimes he'd go up there with friend or friends or something, and that was cool too. Um, but he had no fear of dark. He has no fear of wild animals. He, he just, he loved the woods and he loved fishing and hunting. Um, he still does today. It took him a while to get past everything. The only thing is, is that he is, um, He swears up and down,

4:14 even right now, that he would never go back into those woods, especially in that area alone. He'll always go hunting with somebody. He'll always have a friend or a partner there to go hunting with. Fishing's a little bit different. He doesn't mind fishing in more well-known areas by himself now, but he won't go... He won't go walking up the creeks or anything anymore around here by himself, period. And this kid had no fear. As a matter of fact, he's actually in the military now and he still has, you know, little fear of anything except for this. This is the one thing that even before he left the basic, he was rehashing his encounter again. And I could see his hands. They were still shaking. They started shaking a little bit when he got into the more serious parts of it. And so the night that this happened, he came home. I was not home. I was at work.

5:20 And my wife opened the door. I think she opened the door. He opened the door. Anyways, he was like pale as a ghost. And he was crying. This kid is 20 years old at the time. He was literally in tears and massive shock. He couldn't hardly talk. He was, um, he was whimpering as he was crying. Um, my wife was asking him what happened, what happened. Um, she actually thought for a moment that, um, something might have happened to his buddy he was hunting with that a gun might have gone off or something and he shot him or something and jordan kept saying no no no no and he he just said no no and he he got on the couch and he curled up in this like fetal position and he it took him she said it took about 15 20 minutes just to get him to calm down enough to to to tell her what happened or, you know, what's going on. And eventually in between the mumbling and the whimpering and the crying, he said, he, what he, what I'll tell you, he saw. And that

6:55 right there had him, as soon as he got to the point of what he saw and He's like, he just broke down again and started whimpering and crying and shaking, like convulsing, shaking in fear. So she calls me at work. And she's like, she's all, are you busy? Can you take a minute? And I'm like, yeah, sure. And she's like, it's Jordan. And in my mind, I was like, oh, no. what happened to my son? Did a gun accidentally go off? Is he okay? Or is his buddy okay? And she's like, just, you know, and then I asked her that. I was like, is he okay? Did any, was there an accident? You know, car accident, gun accident? She's like, no. She's like, but you really need to go somewhere and sit down for a second. So I went back in the custodial office and sat down for a moment. And then she told me what she was, you know, the gist of what she could get out of him at the time. And while she was telling me this, the kid had passed out.

8:12 I mean, he's asleep. He is finally just so much shock. He passed out. And this was around 830 at night. I don't get off until 11 o'clock. And so by the time I got home, he was still asleep. I did wake him up and he. I try, he tried to tell me what happened, but still he, he, he just started shaking and it was just, it was hard for him to, to really say anything. He was just, he was just out of it. And this is not normal for my kid. Who's like, you know, He's he's a he's a tough kid. He's an outdoors kid. He like I said, and he's a straight shooter. And it was it was hard for me to see. Just did.

9:08 I mean, I'm kind of excited at the same time, which I feel bad about saying. But at the same time, you know, I'm dad and I'm like, oh, my gosh. I mean, you're just you know, it's nothing happened to my son. So that that was a blessing for me. So eventually, a few days later, and I'll kind of dive into everything that he told me. So a few days later, we were sitting outside. I grabbed him a beer and I sat down with a nice cider. And he was still shaking when he would go through this whole evening of hunting. And it was crazy. So.

9:57 Earlier that afternoon, they decided to, him and a buddy decided to borrow his buddy's dad's truck. And they headed up to a nice little secret, you know, secret hunting places are to go up there and do some hunting. And so they were going all the way up towards the top of Rock Creek area. Um, it was, I mean, it's, it's way up there. The reason it takes so long to get up there is because it is winding. It is hilly. I mean, even my V8 started getting a little warm because of the climb and it's a climb up there. So, and there was a, as everybody knows that lives here, there was a lot, there was this huge fire here a couple of years, two, three years ago, massive fires. And so this place was one of the places that got hit. But by now, there's just so much thicket and bush and everything else that's up there.

10:59 And I'll explain that in a few. But yeah, it's still thick and crazy. So anyways, they're driving up this whole mountainside with the drainage basically on the right of them pretty much the whole time. And. At one point, and this was kind of interesting that he said this because this was something he hadn't mentioned before, and he's telling you this when he's finally somewhat calm. He said that they spotted the deer, the buck, that they were trailing up this mountain because they weren't expecting to go all the way to the top of the mountain.

11:42 They were trailing it because they were coming up around a bend and they saw this deer. And it was just stark still, standing on the left side of the road. And they pulled over as quick as they could and grabbed their rifles. And by the time they grabbed their rifles and got out of that car, just as they were getting out, that deer took off. Up that mountain. Down the mountainside. So it started heading downhill. And... It was funny because Jordan's like, you know, he goes over there and he starts listening for it and he can tell that this thing may have gone downhill, but it's taking that it's it's heading back up that that drainage area.

12:31 And he's like, oh, this thing's going to be heading heading up that way on the opposite side of the road, of course, nothing but mountains. And it's really funny because as he turned around to kind of look up that way, because he heard something up there, he thought there might be some more deer up there. He swears he saw what was kind of a pretty dark shadow up there. And he just caught it out of the corner of his eye. He thought, well, maybe this is a bear. And he did have a bear tag. So he was like, okay. um you know maybe that's a bear whatever maybe we'll just hang out here for a few minutes so he decided to hang out there for a few minutes him and his buddy they looked around at some for some bear track and stuff and what he found on the side of the road kind of pushed into a little bit of like wet dirt the that was from the rains a couple days earlier um He's all... I thought at first it was like a... You know, like a bear paw or something. But he's like... He's all, no.

13:40 This thing looked like it was... You know when you put your hand on something but your fingers are kind of raised? So your palms up a little bit? It looked like that. And he's all... It looked like a hand. Yeah. And he was like... it was the strangest thing, but it was still kind of messy. So he kind of flaked it off as like, just, you know, probably bear doesn't really know, but whatever it was, he didn't really know, but they did have that incident. And this is like, uh, about, I don't know. I don't know how, I can't remember how long it was before the, the big incident, but, This was down the side of the mountain, so they hung out there for a few or more, and they decided, okay, well, this deer is heading up this drainage, so there's got to be some doe up there and some other bucks.

14:39 So let's go ahead and follow this road to the top and see if we can meet it there as it moves up. the side of that drainage. And so they decided to follow it up there and they got to the top of this mountain. And I've been there. So this mountain, when they got where they went, you can, there's a Y in the dirt road, in the BLM road. You can keep going, you can stay right and you can go back down the drainage and back down to Diamond Lake Highway or you can go up even higher.

15:19 And if you go up higher, it's about 100 yards. And when you get up there, you're going to see this big open kind of flat area with a big huge tree brush pile that's stacked up as tall as, you know, it's about as big as a house. And that was from the fires when they were stacking just junk up, I guess, and rock and all kinds of stuff. It does, the road does keep, It has a switchback and still goes up to the very, very top of that mountain. But we weren't willing to go that far that day. It was it was funny. But then when you come to that big flat area with all of this, you know, the piles of stuff there, there's a little tiny it looks like a little fire road, but it's more like a lane because it dead ends. And then you've on the right hand side, you've got the drainage that goes just down at a pretty good angle, not steep, steep.

16:25 I mean, you can walk down it if you watch your step. And on the left, you're going to have a little ditch that's about, you know, three feet deep, um, you know, two, three feet deep, but it's, it's got a, an almost little vertical wall backing to it. And then it's just a, um, you know, a steep incline there. On both sides, most of the trees were pretty much just standing trees with no real limbs or anything from the fire a couple, two, three years ago. But the brush, and it was really funny because I walked up the side of that. And when I'm up there looking down at him, you can barely see my head. The brush is so tall. And as I walk up the hillside, I kind of start to disappear because there's just too much brush. So what he saw, what they saw, literally, it was crazy. That thing had to be eight, nine feet at least. So because I'm, you know, I'm five, eight. Um, he couldn't hardly see me, but this thing, he could see it from when it walked off from there. It, he could see from like the shoulder blades to the top of the head. So anyways, uh, so they get

18:01 up there, they decide to park, um, right next to that, that lane that shoots off to the right. Um, And they decide, well, you know, that deer is going to probably come up that way. So they get out. Not sooner did they get out and stop, start walking down that lane. They heard literally. And he was like, I, I, he's all, it was the weirdest chilling thing I've ever heard. He heard what sounded like a child's voice saying, uh, like, uh, uh, let me see, trying to get it. It was like a, but it was, it was louder. It was, it was sharp.

18:54 And he said, it sounded like something, you know, and he named my, my, my youngest boy. He, and he's a key was 11 at the time. He's always sounds like something he would say in, in that kind of tone, that tonality that he's like, It just sounded like a kid came from the right-hand side down there. And once that thing made that sound, all of a sudden, directly to the right of them down that way, they heard this crashing, something running up at an angle towards that other sound. It just shot up there. And he's all, it was loud. It was heavy. He's all, we actually got excited because we thought, oh my gosh, there's going to be a buck here. And it sounds like a pretty big one or something or maybe the bear. He Jordan said he thought it was the bears, but he thought it was maybe the buck. And they just they just thought it's something was coming up that way and they were going to be able to to get something.

20:05 Jordan was like, dude, that is a bear because it was making a freight train going through there. Then all of a sudden, everything stopped and it just went dead quiet. His buddy decided, you know what, I'm going to go up to this part of the lane and you hang out at this part of the lane, but we'll still be able to see each other so we know what we're shooting or whatever. So they decided to do that. It was starting to get dark. And so they didn't want to be hunting, you know, at night. So they were like, let's just hope this thing gets up there and that would be really cool. The next thing that happened was, um, they started hearing something coming from up on the left now, from the top of the hillside, the mountainside. Jordan said something came running and he was like, all of a sudden he knew in his head, this isn't right because it was so loud. It was so heavy.

21:22 He's like, he was like, it was almost like you could, you could feel it. It was running so hard and so fast. And as it came down the hill, there was, you know, sometimes you get those dead stands in the forest. Basically, there was this tall one. It must have been 10, 12, 14 feet, whatever. He said it was pretty tall. It was dead, though. I looked in that direction. I saw that tree. He's all, that tree exploded. And he was like, I think as it ran down, it whacked that tree that dead. And this thing was dead because I actually went up and looked at it. It was one of those like bug eaten, soft core, you know, trees. And this thing I'm telling you had to be at least 14 feet high, whatever it was, he watched that tree just go. And it made a sound as it went, as it, As it kind of exploded. And he still heard that thing running down the hill. And it was coming towards them. So Jordan. Actually. Made a warning. Said I got a gun. I got a gun. And he still heard it coming. So he shot in that direction.

22:47 Which is his rifle up over the. In the air. Up into the trees. To get whatever it was. Or whatever to stop. It worked. It stopped. Dead flat. It just stopped. Then he looks down the lane at his buddy and he's like, dude, I don't know what that is. He's all, that was two legs, dude. I don't know what this is. We need to go. It's getting dark. And His buddy was like, oh, man, it's probably just a bear, dude. Let's see if we can snag something.

23:31 Let's see if we can get something. And Jordan's like, whatever, dude. But I'm going to move over here closer. He was going to head over closer to the truck. Because he was not all of a sudden feeling okay. He was all that. I was nervous. He's all something in my head was in. And my soul was just telling me. Something's wrong. So it's getting a little bit darker now, even darker. And it's like getting to basically it's like sunset. And so it's getting dark. But he can see clearly the hillside because of the remaining light. He can see it pretty good. He starts walking back to the truck, not 10, 15 feet down. He hears. this rumbling, weird, deep growling, like sound that he was like, he said, not only did I feel it, it made me stop in my tracks. He's like, I felt like if I didn't stand still, I was dead. And this is where, when he was telling me this again, He started actually crying again. He started getting tears, wiping them away, shaking pretty bad again. And I'm like, it's OK. You know,

25:02 take a swig of the beer, kid. I was like, you want a cigar? Let pops know. So anyways, it took a few more minutes. And then he said then he continued on. He's all, I kept trying to find the sound. It sounded like it was coming from almost everywhere in front of me. Now, he's standing on that lane. It's probably, if you laid people, you know, down head to toe, it's probably about two people wide, maybe two and a half. Regular size, you know, my size people.

25:44 Because I was there. I've been, I've seen it. And I looked at the same place that he was looking and I get what he was seeing. He was turned in that position and he had his gun raised. He decided to shoot again up over the mountains, up into the trees because he's thinking, oh, no, he wasn't sure what it was. He just knows that he's in danger. So he shoots off up there. And he, he, he's all, this is like a mama bear or whatever. He's all, I just, he's just trying to warn it. Shoots it off again. This time that thing kept up. It's whatever it was doing. It's growling or whatever it was. It was deep. It vibrated right through him. It felt like it was coming from everywhere in front of him. But then all of a sudden, he looked straight ahead and not 10 to 12 feet away. Because I actually, I walked, well, I had to jump almost up the side of the ditch there to get up there where he was at.

27:03 But he was right. He was about 10 or 12 feet away from this thing. Literally. Literally. He looked straight ahead. What he saw was from about the bridge of the nose up to the top of its head. He told me that the skin, right off the bat, he was like, this is not a bear. In his head, he was like, I'm going to tell you one thing real quick. My son always loved the Bigfoot stories that I did and turning people's things into stories and whatever. He always thought that was really cool and entertaining, but he never actually believed. Period.

27:52 He didn't. He didn't believe in that stuff because he'd been up in the woods too much. No. He looked dead straight ahead. This thing, he said, first off, the hair was not long and shaggy and crazy and messy. He was like, it was like, the best thing he could describe was like, you know that thick gorilla black fur that comes off their face and stuff? It's just really thick and it looks, you know, it looks almost kind of sleek. You know that? Yeah. Yeah. So he said it looked like that. The skin, he said... on the nose and over the forehead was, um, was kind of grayish, like a darker grayish in color, pretty dark gray.

28:49 And it looked like it was like crusty old, basically. Can't remember the exact words he was using on that, but it was like a, I guess I could say crusty kind of old, like look, he said the eyes, um, And I kept looking. I kept telling asking him, I was like, how big were the eyes? So I put my two fingers together like an OK sign. And I kept bringing the fingertip, you know, the thumb and the index finger apart until one point where he says probably about like that. It's basically I could pretty much fit one of the golf balls I have in there in my hand, my fingers there. They were about like that.

29:30 The face was, he said, was pretty, pretty big. It was big. And he said that the eyes were they weren't on the. side. There was no snout. It was a bridge of a nose. It was, it was weird bridge and the skin was weird. And he said that the eyes were a dark mustard color. It was like a mustardy yellow color. and that the pupils, what he could see, were black. The fur part, or the hair, actually, or the head, whatever it was, he said, it did come up. It looked like it was, he's all, I don't know if it was the skull that came up into, he's all, but the hair came up into what seemed to be slightly like Mohawk-ish. You know? So anyways... this thing is staring at him and this is when he literally thought he was going to pass out. He was going to just, he thought he was dead. This thing stared at him and was making that sound and he could tell in its eyes that he just, he knew he's all, I gotta go, I gotta go or I'm dead.

30:52 It He was like, I swear that thing wanted to kill me. And so he just yelled over at his buddy, we gotta go, we gotta go, we gotta go. He did not take his eyes off that thing, and he ended up leveling that gun at that thing. And he started moving sideways, keeping his eyes on that thing the whole time. Just at that moment, his buddy down at the end started yelling. And he looked over at him for a second. And as he did, that thing that my son was looking at had stood up, turned around, and started walking. It wasn't, he's like, it's not like it was, it was like it was gliding up that he's all, I couldn't see from the, from the shoulder underneath the shoulder blades. But he was like, if you took two football players, front linemen and put them together, that's what I was looking at in size. And it glided up that he's like, it's like it was gliding up that, that mountain in between the trees. At first, I saw it. It disappeared behind a bunch of brush again,

32:26 but then it popped out again even higher up the mountainside. And then that's when his buddy started yelling, run, run. He looked over, and at the end of that little lane, it just dead ends, and it's nothing but thickets and woods. But his buddy watched as this thing, and I'll tell you what he called it in a minute, but he watched this thing. He saw it from the waist up, and its arm was coming out of the bushes, and it was going to run at him. He took his rifle.

33:18 And he started running backwards with his rifle pointing at it. And it was getting darker. He tripped over a tree, felt the fallen tree branches and stuff. There was a tree that was there, and I saw the tree. It wasn't a very big tree. It was like a little log pole thing with branches on it. He tripped over that. When he tripped over it, that thing was coming out of those bushes in that thicket. And he shot at it. And the next thing you know, there was this wild, crazy scream. And he didn't. But this was one fluid motion.

34:00 He was falling. He shot. He went back this way and he kept getting up and running and yelling, run, Jordan, run, run, run. And so he's running. And they get in the car. And. They took off. They went down that mountain, and Jordan said they almost went off the ravine twice. And I was like, dude. Yeah. They got down about 500 or 600 yards, and all of a sudden, this is the stupid thing. His buddy was like, dude, I left the binoculars next to the truck. Oh, no. I'm going to tell you. You know how much... fancy binoculars are nowadays yeah.

34:49 I married into a hunting family i know how much they are yeah. Yeah i've heard of people spending like two or three grand on binoculars. I've heard of people that want to. Well like i said this this guy's family can afford it and they did yeah right he had to turn around and get the binoculars And Jordan's like, dude, I'm not going. I'm not going. I'm not going. And he's like, dude, I've got to get those. My dad's going to kill me. He's going to kill me. I don't have the money to pay that. He's going to kill me. He turns around, goes back up there, and those binoculars are sitting right there.

35:31 And he's like, just grab them real quick, Jordan, because it was on Jordan's side. And Jordan's like, I'm not getting out of this car. And Jordan made sure that his door was locked. And he was kind of leaning down so nothing could see him. Kid got out, grabbed the binoculars as quick as he could, got back in the truck, and then they went down the mountain. And again, they almost went off the side of the road because they were freaking out. So apparently, when Jordan got here, he was in full... Excuse me. He was in full... shock shock shock my wife has never really seen shock I understand where he was at because he was still in shock when I came home by 11 11 15 that night to get his to find out what happened and he was still in shock I've seen shock he was in shock his friend made it to his parents house and And he looked at his father and he was like, I shot a man in a monkey suit.

36:44 I think I shot a man in a monkey suit. His dad was there. They were freaked out. They were like, oh, no. Where were you? And he said we were in our spot. They drove up there that night. Is his is his. His dad and one of his buddies got one of his buddies up and they drove up there. Good for them. Yeah. These guys are not afraid of anything. Right. Nothing. They went up there. They found some crazy tracks in that dirt up there on the side of the road.

37:29 And they found blood splatter. They got back. And whenever his son calmed down, he looked at him and told him, we don't talk about this anymore. Ever. So nowadays, my son may go fishing alone in more populated spots along the Umpqua River in either direction. But he doesn't go hunting alone. He doesn't go camping alone unless if he ever does, he says it would have to be something like, you know, a resort where there's a whole bunch of people involved. But even then, he was like, I'd rather just go with somebody. Yeah. He's all never, ever be unarmed.

38:20 I mean, I go fishing and I do little nature videos and I do photography of the river and we love to go fly fishing. He was always packing. He always has a sidearm now. And he listens. I watched him. The last fly fishing we did in the last weekend of August. Or was it the first weekend of September? One of those. We were up there fly fishing. And it was just me and him and his little brother. And we were up there. And you should see him. It was so... I'll be honest. I hate saying this. It was kind of funny. But every time... he heard something across the river or up above us or any, his head shot in that direction. And he would just look for a good minute or two. And he was like, I think there's a bear over there. I think there's something over there. It was constant. Every few minutes, I swear this kid was looking around. His head was on a, it was, yeah, it was on a tripod. It was just constantly moving around. And I'm like, Oh my gosh.

39:33 I was like, that's, that's funny. Crazy. I know I'm, you know, I, and I, I kind of jab at him to make things a little bit lighter for him. And he doesn't mind that at all. It actually kind of helps, but, um, but, uh, That's what happened that night. I've never seen, I believe, a 20-year-old and a 21-year-old. That's a man. And I've never seen a man like that in my life. And I've seen bad things. I don't come from a very good background. And I've seen bad things. And I've seen people in shock. this was absolutely crazy. He was in a fetal position sleeping until I got home. It was weird. So David, that's absolutely incredible.

40:35 Everything that happened to him. And so he won't, uh, my allergies, he won't, uh, like I said, he, uh, he doesn't talk about it much to anybody. Um, he doesn't really mention it much to anybody. He said, I was able to tell you, and that was fine. And, uh, you know, as long as I wasn't, you know, I can't really mention any names of his friend or friend's family or anything like that. That's fine. Yeah, absolutely. Yeah. Um, just because of, yeah, they are. And, but, you know, It was crazy, you know, and I got hold of you, of course, and let you know I got hold of a friend of mine named Will. And, you know, I let Shane know that this is what happened.

41:32 It was crazy, you know, I've never... I don't know. You know, man, like I said, I've heard things. I've seen some tracks of, you know, some weird things. You've heard my own my own stuff, my own experience. But my son was just like that. I never, ever, ever believed truly in my heart. And I hate to say this to you. The old time that you were doing your Bigfoot stories, he was like, I never believed it. right I got you and he's all I will yeah he's all now I will never go into the woods alone because I know what's out there and it's not friendly it's not friendly at all this thing is protective what he said he believed he actually encountered was he's all there had to be at least three of them maybe four The younger one was young. It was a young one. And that's the sound that he heard. And it sounded like a child, like an 8 to 10-year-old or whatever. He heard that other one flying up that way.

42:50 You had another one coming down from... Basically, if you actually in his position, it was coming from the northeast down, but there was another one that was growling right at him. He stared it in the face from 10 feet away right there. That tells me that if you include the young one, there's actually four. Because there was no way that that thing was going to hit that dead stand and dead stop and then get to where he was that quietly that fast when he turned and just started saying dude gotta go turned and walked and started hearing that growling and it was right in front of him yeah and i mean it literally is not even across this small living room i have for me just staring him it didn't blink it just stared at him he could tell it kind of looked like it was space was just It was scrunched up and it was growling.

43:53 This awful, weird sound. And he could tell in its eyes that it just, it wanted him dead. But he had that gun on that thing. And I don't, I don't know if they recognize guns is what they are, but they just recognize them as like some sort of defensive weapon of some kind. Like he's got something in his hands that could hurt me. I think they do based on other stuff I've heard that's happened near Oak Ridge and to hunters. I absolutely think that they realize what's going on with an instrument like that. I think so too. And I think I was going to bring that up, man.

44:36 Like pretty much what you just said. I feel like your son and his buddy inadvertently went into a family unit area and got themselves in a whole bunch of trouble by accident. That's what I think happened. That's what I think happened. And I told them, I was like, you know, listen, it was like you, you, you, that's right. You were, it was an ax. You were in the wrong place at the wrong time. And it's so far out. Yeah. And you know, a few years ago there wasn't that much brush there and now it's just covered with it. Right. And by the time they're there hunting, you know, It's just covered with it. And so I was like, maybe these things were there from the beginning. Maybe they migrated somewhere else for a while because of the fires. And then they're coming back. And I was like, they could. Yeah.

45:38 Can you share when this happened? Yeah, this was last October. Right, so it's October of. It was October... 25. It was the first weekend of... Or not first weekend, I'm sorry. It was... What was... I'm thinking... This Thursday, this year is the 15th. And the 8th. Wow. So last year would have been the 7th, right? Yeah, probably. Yeah. Probably. Um, that's why. Yeah. Yeah. It was, it was, it was, I believe a Thursday night, Thursday, Thursday night, Thursday or Friday, Friday night in the first week of October of last year.

46:28 Okay. So how, how soon after that happened, did you go up then with him? It was nearly a little over two months later because he would not... Yeah, he was adamant about not going back up there. But eventually, he calmed down. And he was like, oh, we can go up there. But we're bringing my rifle and the handgun. And I want you to bring your rifle. Sure. So we were totally loaded down with... yeah totally i didn't want to go up there with a phone.

47:16 To document if something happens right. Yeah i'm like yeah at least i'll get the document. They'll find my phone hopefully um that's not that's not funny it's a prednisone date i'm a little bit. Well you know i was on prednisone for a long time too. You get it um it's hard we're getting close to the end of the treatment though so we'll get there like we're like a month out um So, oh, the question that probably everyone is thinking is, I would guess is, okay, so you know the story, you're going up, but you've said already that you saw the tree that was blown apart, that exploded. Were there any other things that you noticed that, we're like oh that's like the thing from the the story or to be more specific did you see any blood marks or anything like.

48:12 Was no no no because we're coming into fall then and it's so rainy and so nasty and as a matter of fact i i had to wait for a good saturday to get up there because those roads can get pretty nasty and i'm telling you driving up there i mean you've got half the time you got cliff on one side and mountain on the other and so it's it's a little it's a little you know you need to have a good four by four to get up there and all i have is a uh an suvva a dodge durango which was fun wow yeah but um you know it was good enough to get up there i was low gear and everything but i'll tell you what you need You shouldn't go up there with a car. It's just too far.

48:59 No, no, definitely not from what I'm getting. And obviously, the sanctity of hunting spots is unmatched. That's why we probably haven't been seeing the mountain name, but the road is fine, I'm guessing. I don't know the mountain name, actually. Oh, okay. Oh, interesting. Yeah, but I do know that... if you go up Rock Creek and you cross the bridge at one point on it, where the furthest it goes over the creek there, there's a bridge that you cross, and we took... You take a left up the road from there, not too far. Or if you wanted to, you could stay on that when you cross the bridge and stay on that. And this is what's cool. And this is what got me thinking why they were there. That whole drainage coming off the side of those mountains goes down into rock. It goes into another creek that flows out into Rock Creek, I guess. And this drainage is on both sides protected.

50:00 by mountains. Oh, sure. You go down one mountain, you're going up another, and then it creates its own drainage down into the more open area of rock Creek area. So it's, it's pretty, it's, it's a, and you don't, you don't go hiking up the hill there. You can't. Yeah. It's too steep in most places. It's too crazy. Yeah. Um there's no way you're going you're hiking up that thing you have to drive to the top and get out you're not walking up there even if you're walking that road it would take you all day and it's just it's windy there's switchback it is coming down off that mountain that day i was like i decided to go the other way to go the long way to scope the whole area and that's what i noticed because i want to go up there and take photos because it's so pretty back in there oh sure It's just thick forest. Yeah, a lot of it's burnt, but there's still, on that side of the mountain, there's still lots of good, fresh trees. Good, thick evergreens, thick brush, creek running through it that is just beautiful. Nobody wants to go with me, but.

51:17 Oh, bye, David. I'm still going to go. Yeah, I'm going to probably wander off to... Yeah, because what I wanted to do was just get some shots of the creek itself, so I don't have to be too far from my car, and I've got a gun holster, so I've got a 9mm, so I'm good. By the way, whenever his buddy said that he hit that thing when he shot, he swore he hit it towards the left arm shoulder area, and that's once that gun went off, it wasn't, but a 10th of a second later, the thing screamed and it didn't come at him, but it was, it was coming out over the hedges. Yeah. That, that, that it was coming over it. And he was like, he thought he swore he was a fricking monster was coming at him over this, these head, this ticket.

52:23 Oh, sure. Yeah. And I was in heat. Oh, man. Yeah. So it was it was. Yeah. And there are reports from up there. I know. I looked at that. Yeah. I actually added their incident to the Bigfoot mapping thing. Oh, and I gave it the general area there. So I'll check that out. That's awesome. But I'm surprised there's not more people that put stuff up there. There are a few, though. Oh, really? I need to check that out. Yeah. There's quite a few over the years, but most people don't know things about Bigfoot mapping projects or things like that. But up there, I hear from people. There was this one lady that recognized me years ago when I was doing PacWest Bigfoot on the YouTube channel. She recognized me at Fred Meyer. Yeah.

53:23 You've got that too? I've got that in my head. I used to get it. It was so funny. It was like, what am I, some sort of YouTube sensation? What's going on here? It happened. Actually, it happened pretty frequently. Really? But this one lady one time, I'm standing there in the vegetable area, you know, in the produce area with my wife. And she keeps looking at me. She keeps looking at me. And I was like, and she comes over and she's like, are you the back west Bigfoot guy? And I'm like, yes, because she then she looks at my beanie and I had the little PacWest Bigfoot logo on it. Oh, yeah. I love the stories. I love how you how you create the short stories around these things. And I was like, oh, that's that's awesome. And it was really nice. But all of a sudden she's like, you know, I live out towards Idlewild, me and my husband.

54:17 Wow. And she's all. We have friends that live out there too, and there are certain times of winter and early and mid-fall when we hear stuff out that way almost every year. And it's this crazy, long, mournful, wailing, holler, whatever it is. Some people call it screaming. Places up Wolf Creek. Oh, geez, Wolf Creek. This is a different... I don't know if it's the same Wolf Creek. Oh, it's a different one.

55:00 Oh, yeah, that's true. The other one would be further south on I-5. Yeah, the other one's further south. And all of this stuff up towards the Steamboat area, all the way up towards Lomolo Lake and Steamboat... I'm sorry, Steamboat. I said that. Stump. There's this little place called Stump Lake. I've been there. It's really pretty. I got a picture of it on one of my things, but it's just beautiful, but My goodness. It's just, she was telling me about, you know, I was standing in the produce area for like 10 minutes and my wife is like, Oh, sorry that's you know so yeah eventually my wife just gave up on that stuff and she would just say i'm gonna go finish my shopping okay that's.

55:46 Funny i don't get that on iowa but if i lived out there yeah and. Then somebody would share with me like oh i was out towards here or i was over there but there was a most of the time it was people that were up the north umpqua mm-hmm Up around Idlewild, Steamboat and up towards Tokiti Falls and all that. It was just just weird, strange stuff. Did I? I don't think I'm pretty sure this didn't come up last time. So you've gotten stuff by like Tokiti Falls and Tokiti Falls Campground. I have. I heard a couple of them from people that I ran into who have seen something one night.

56:37 And then most of the time, the other story or maybe two, I've got a couple somewhere to find, but it was just wandering around there. You know, most of the time you don't get anything in the summer when it's really busy. I don't ever get anybody saying, oh, you know, we were camping there in July, you know, with everybody else. And there's this most of the time it's like a hunter or those real dedicated fishermen that are going up that way, you know, fly fishing and stuff like that that are out there in the fall and winter. And it's there's not a lot of people up there. And some of them in the fall will go up there and camp in the middle of nowhere.

57:22 Oh, yeah. Absolutely. Yeah. I mean, my son and him, I told them, I was like, dude, why do you have to go out so far to go hunting? He's all, I love the woods. Until now. Right. He still loves the woods. He just doesn't go alone to go do certain things, period, anymore. He's kind of come to grips with that, and that's good. So I didn't, I didn't want this to ruin what I saw in him with the outdoors. Yeah. I'll tell you what, I could tell that. Yeah. I could tell that kid's got eyeballs in the back of his head now. Yeah.

58:04 I don't blame him. It was weird to watch him just turn his head quickly to look at things. What, and what a, what a fascinating and really scary account. Um, Thank you for being willing to share that. And also thank you to your son, in case he listens, for being willing to let you share his story. And I hope that he's able to continue to work through things. Oh, yeah. He just started boot camp a few weeks ago. He'll be serving five years to start with. Wow. So, yeah, it'll be pretty awesome.

58:49 Absolutely we appreciate him taking up for our country like that thank you. Yeah he's a good kid he's a really good kid he's smart and he's just yeah it was it was crazy man it was it was shocking to hear everything he said and you know just so people know i mean that thing it was grayish, dark, dark, dark gray with crinkly skin, just weird. The hair was thick. He was like, it was like, like a bear, like a big black bear, thick, thick hair. And it wasn't long, long. And it was, there was kind of a, a sheen to it and it went into like almost a mohawkish kind of top of the head and the nose he said wasn't like a snout it was a bridge of a nose he saw it.

59:49 Was weird yeah absolutely but why it was a wider bridge than ours but he's all you could tell it was bridge he was 10 feet away from this thing and saw it clear as. Day it's like what is going on out there it's just it. He was like he was like my he's all my soul dropped to my feet so i thought i he's all i thought i was dead yeah i was like oh my gosh. Wild, wild stuff. My goodness. Can you, can you share, I know we talked about this a little bit beforehand, but, um, um, you are going to be doing, uh, kind of a new version of, of your stories and we will have that all linked, but do you mind sharing a little bit about how, how you will be doing stuff from here?

1:00:43 Yeah. Yeah. So over the last few years, I've, been trying to get back into it but just because of time and all kinds of other things it was just it was just it was it was a lot and um but i finally got to this point in my life where you know i can and i'll be honest with you my mother will hound me day and night for some good bigfoot stories And I've still got a pretty good amount, a slew of just, you know, your basic anecdotal stuff, you know, of this is what I saw, this is some of the things that happened, blah, blah, blah.

1:01:29 I still got a lot of those, you know, a slew of them that I can use to create the stories around. But I tried to go a few different routes with it since PacWest Bigfoot on YouTube. Mm-hmm. And I just felt I hated losing that whole thing to Google like that. It was horrible. It was terrible. And I wasn't the only one back then. There were thousands and thousands of people that got hurt. Tens of thousands, probably. Wow. And I was one of them. And it was just horrible. And I was mad. I was pretty upset. And so since then, I've gotten... I've gotten the anger put away about it. I got rid of that. And my mother really loves them. And she's getting older. Yeah. And I've actually had a whole bunch of people. Oh, dude, I love your photos. But when you having some Bigfoot stories.

1:02:29 So I decided with the stories. Yeah. Yeah, so I decided recently that what I was going to do, and this is how it's going to work going forward, period. I'm not going to have a new YouTube channel at all. I'm going to let that go. The old PacWest Bigfoot will still be there, so you guys can hear old stories and stuff like that. But like you, I've decided to go to a really good podcasting platform called Speaker. And it will disseminate those episodes and stories and stuff throughout Spotify and YouTube music and all these other different places.

1:03:11 Because for me, it's just, you know, I know some people in this community are just here to make a buck on ads. And that's what they do. And that's fine. You know, you know, I love capitalism. Go for it. You guys have fun with that. For me to be on Spreaker with it and everything is is it has. Yeah, it's it's not a lot of money or anything like that. And I barely earn anything from it. So the thing is, I don't care. I really don't. I have a great job. I also do stuff with my photography that makes me a side income. So I don't care. Um, what I do know is that, um, when I'm not out taking, I don't work until three o'clock every day. Okay. So I have plenty of time to go to photos and to write stories now. So I've decided to, um, update.

1:04:05 I'm going to go ahead and keep PacWest Bigfoot on Spreaker, which will be PacWest Bigfoot on Spotify or wherever else. And I'm going to, I have a new encounter story out there right now. Uh, There's another one coming out, I'm hoping, this week. It's just I got a couple things to do the next couple days, so it might not be until Monday. But I'm going to try to do it on a weekly or biweekly basis at least every two weeks, no matter what. But I'm going to try to do it weekly here and there. So it's already out there, so that's awesome. It is. PacWest Bigfoot on Spreaker or Spotify, and you'll see the latest episode.

1:04:50 Will it be on Apple Music as well? I'm trying to find out if it's on there. I believe it is, but I'm not sure yet. I'm trying to get hold of Spreaker because I can't really see that part right there. I'm having issues. But I do know it's on Spotify, and it's on YouTube Music, and all the others. So for the most part, whatever your favorite podcast platform is, it's there. Yeah, they're really good with that. Yeah. And do you have like a website where people can see your photos at and all that? I have a website up recently, but I've taken it down because I've decided I don't want a website for it either. Everything's going to be there on the podcast and the podcast only for now, at least because I just, I don't know. I don't, I'm, you know, I, I use a platform called calmly writer and, If anybody's a writer and likes to do that stuff or likes to take notes and store a lot of stuff in there, written content, that is one of the best places to go.

1:06:00 Call Me Writer is great. It's totally free. Or you can buy it. Yeah, you can actually buy access, one lifetime access for like 14 bucks or something and download it to your computer. Wow. That's pretty solid. And it's great. So, yeah. And so that's where I write the stories. And then, of course, I'll be reading them back over PacWest Bigfoot from the Spreaker. How can people reach out to you if they want to share their account specifically with you? Because I know there's an email. Yeah, you can contact me on the email tab in Spreaker or wherever you're at. Yeah.

1:06:46 Or you can, you can comment. I will check the comments. Breaker will filter in my comments for stuff and I'll be able to contact you there as well. That's awesome. Well, David, we'll definitely have that linked and, and thank you so much for, for hanging out today, getting my mind off things. It was nice having a conversation. And, uh, yeah, well, thank you, man. And I'm, I'm glad you're, you're, uh, you're a one month out from being done with stuff and, um i have a friend that just went through a 10-hour operation for cancer and you know i've been praying for her my family's been praying for you and and uh all of that so uh you know um that's it's just it's it's a blessing and you know the lord has you has you here for For a reason. And he has you here.

1:07:38 He knows the days for you, man, no matter what. Amen. That's it. And as long as you're here, you just keep doing what he has you doing here. That's it. I agree 100%, man. Good stuff. Yeah. If you've had a Bigfoot encounter of your own, I would love to hear from you. You can send me an email with your encounter information. at bigfootsociety at gmail.com. I've come out with a free report about the top 10 Bigfoot hotspots. You can go over to bit.ly forward slash BFS report. I'm Jeremiah Byron. Thanks for listening to Bigfoot Society, and I'll see you in the woods.
