A hiker exploring the rugged mountains of Washington's Olympic Peninsula describes a series of powerful four-part grunts that followed his group deeper into remote terrain before erupting from just beyond a wall of boulders. Years later, the experience still stands as one of the most unsettling moments of his life.


Then travel back to Oregon in 1989, where two teenage backpackers stopped for the night at a quiet campground north of Crater Lake. Heavy bipedal footsteps entered their campsite, an unseen presence paused only feet away, and multiple eerie howls sent them racing into the night.
