In 1978, a woman near Florence, Oregon claimed an 8-to-9-foot-tall creature followed her through the Oregon Dunes while her German Shepherd shook in fear. The encounter reportedly happened near Cleawox Lake in Lane County. She said the figure approached to roughly 150 feet, crouched and watched her, then suddenly covered about 95 feet in three enormous strides. After reaching her car, she reported hearing two extremely powerful screams. The next morning, she returned and reported finding unusually large impressions with strides more than five feet apart.
