He watched it cup water in its hand and drink.
Then it carefully smoothed the sand to erase its tracks.
Erica Canevari is a Northern California author, farrier, equestrian, and lifelong Humboldt County local. Her novel The Carrying draws on her knowledge of Bigfoot, horses, wilderness travel, and the Marble Mountains. Behind the fiction are years spent listening to the people who say they’ve encountered something unexplained in this legendary corner of Bigfoot country.
Erica has collected stories from hunters, tribal members, horse owners, heavy-equipment operators, and people traveling the remote highways of Northern California.
In this episode, she shares reports of an orangutan-like creature stopping in the middle of a highway, a heavy-equipment operator who believed he was surrounded in the mountains, strange activity around the Hoopa Reservation, unexplained sounds deep in the redwoods, and a woman who reported watching something enter a glowing portal near Eureka.
Erica also takes us into the Marble Mountains, Dinsmore, Highway 36, Humboldt’s dark rural roads, and the patterns she has noticed after listening to roughly 1,500 firsthand accounts and testimonies.
