Alaskan Bigfoot Encounters: Truckin' with Tim and the Kenai Sasquatch

I could imagine on the side of the road trying to sleep on him out there because I was in that SIMI and it's a big semi trip and I felt small. I just kind of envisioned him wrapping. He could probably wrap his arm around the cab of the truck and just shake the whole thing. Welcome to the big Foot Society Podcast. In this episode, I talked to Tim, a long haul trucker from the Kenai Peninsula in Alaska. What exactly did Tim see those nights while driving down the Seward Highway? He had said that he's has some very interesting encounters that happened up there in the state of Alaska. How's it going tonight too, I'm going, all right, thank you. Is there anything else that the listeners should know about your background that will help with you sharing your stories tonight. At the time when I saw him, I was long hauling between Anchorage, Stewart, Keena,

1:34 I fair Banks, and the particular area that I saw these two encounters that I drove every single day, sometimes twice a day, and so very familiar with the scenery, just everything as far as along the road sounds good, Let's go ahead and I'll have you start right in with your stories of what you saw when you were long haul trucking. Okay, the first encounter was I believe it was end of September, beginning of October. The leaves had already fallen off the trees, so you could see pretty clear the brush that in the particular area that I was at, it was pretty low lying.

2:30 It was probably about five foot tall. And I was just driving along and I come around a corner and I saw somebody walking across the street or the road, and I was just down in the middle of nowhere. And before I come around the corner, there's a cabin right here on this corner that people would frequent throughout the summer and stuff, and I didn't see any vehicles there when I came around the corner, so I was puzzled when I saw the person walking across the street and had a glimpse it looked like they were wearing dark brown corduroys with the real white tan shirt. Pretty slender, real long hair like down to the shoulders on the upper facial area, which I thought, you know, somebody that had long hair. Was just thinking to myself, that's hot that somebody was out here in the middle of nowhere.

3:46 I didn't see anybody at the cabin, so I'm wondering if they're parked up around the corner. There's another corner about half a mile or so past where I saw and walking, and she wasn't going very fast normally like a typical regular person. They see somebody coming, they scree across the road and they just very lax and daisies very slow, just like not a care in the world. And I kicked myself in the butt for not watching a little bit longer, because as soon as he got to about a quarter turn, I guess for about halfway to looking to his shoulder, I checked my rear view mirrors because sometimes people, even out in the middle of nowhere, would be right on your butt following you and assimi m and as slow as he was going, I figured I might have to slam on my brakes here pretty I a better double check, make sure anybody not on my butt. And when I looked, there wasn't anybody, and I was watching, and that's about when I saw Bigfoot walk up to the guardrail. And that's when I realized

5:24 what I was looking at, because when he went to step over the guardrail came up about halfway maybe just a little bit over halfway up the ship, and I was always see it to believe a kind of person, and I just couldn't believe my eyes. And I'm just thinking, no way, that can't be what I'm what I think it is. And I'm driving i think, around seventy seventy two miles an hour, and I'm like, I'm gonna be there in about one to two seconds, if not sooner. And I just kept watching and it just looked like it sloated, just collided down the side of the embankment, which was probably i'm guessing ten to fifteen v maybe, and knowing where he had gone off the road there, it was like I had mentioned a little lying brush and it was open, and I said it, that's what I think it is. I'll be there in a second, and I'm gonna see it. And that second came and I slowed down and I was looking. I figured it'd be running to be, don't I didn't really know what to expect, and I just I ended up passing the

6:56 area and just sitting there thinking to myself like that had to have been a moose. I trying to make up some kind of logical explanation in my mind for what I just witnessed. So I was trying to think of, you know, like on a four legged animal there. I don't know if i'd stay hinging, but you can see how they walk versus just glided right down the side of the bank there, and as tall as it was, it would have been standing way above the brush that had no leaves on it.

7:47 And I thought, maybe if it's lying down, excuse me, if it's laying down. I'm up high enough in the semi where I can see down and I could see the floor of the hundred up there. But so, yeah, that was the first experience. Do you mind if I ask you if you follow up questions about that story. Sure, that's a fascinating story. Just the fact that you said the guardrail went halfway up as shin that's incredible, or up the creatures shin. How far away were you from the nearest town or civilization. It sounds like it was a kind of a remote area. I'd probably say the nearest town of me was Cooper's Landing, which is down on the Kenai Peninsula south of Anchorage, about maybe hour and a half two hours or so. It's very small. I got one grocery store and maybe a couple of things. That's about it. It's probably about fifteen miles or so from there. So it was really kind of out and remote.

9:01 But it was a very remote wilderness where I was at. It's pretty Alaska's pretty vast. Did you notice anything about the creature's arms when you saw it for just a few seconds, it looked like like the arms had hung down longer than normal, because it almost looked like it wasn't quite all the way to the knee, but it was or maybe around the knee. I can't recall the specifics. Everything seemed like it happened in slow motion, but it all happened pretty quick because he was walking sideways. I could just like a bean stock kind of talk. Personally, I thought I initially saw it.

9:56 If you had to give an estimate as to how tall the creature was what would you say, looked tall and tim did you notice anything about the head structure or the top part of the creature when you saw for a few seconds, nothing out of the ordinary other than thinking it was like somebody that had really long hair down too shoulder, maybe a little bit below shoulder, and I would have probably thought that the hair just was parted or something.

10:41 And you couldn't really cover in the face a little bit. You can't think of anything else right off the top of my head other than being darker on that lower half and lot lighter to dirty blonde on the upper. It just looked like it just didn't have a care in the world. And that was one of my first thoughts, was that I didn't want to run them over anything like that. How did that sighting affect the rest of your travel that day? I was in disbelief. It was really just kind of I kept telling myself it had to have been a moose, It had to have been something else other than that. And I was just trying to tell myself without shreaking myself out, and a little bit worried of, you know, about saying anything, because I'm just not one to tell story especially something like that, and then I don't want to be ridiculed or anything like that. It's very interesting because I believe in your account you had said that you saw it on two legs. But yet the human mind when it sees something like that, it's trying to make sense of what is it that I saw. It's got to be a moose, It's got to be something else. There's in

12:13 a way it could be that, And that's just such a fascinating detail for you to throw in there. Were you actually able to see it cross the road? Then when I first came around in the corner, I looked at that house or the cabin there, and it was just starting on the passing lane. It probably was just like maybe a I don't think it was even halfway into the oncoming traffic lane going from left to right, so I had watched it those Probably it was only a couple of steps. But if I had seen that'd be I would just be replaying that over and over in my mind a few times for sure. That is fascinating. Thank you for sharing that around Cooper Landing, Alaska on the Kenai Peninsula. Very cool. Would you mind sharing your second encounters him the second encounter was just probably about one to two miles away from that one, and this one was I think around February, so it was a few months after that first initial sighting. I

13:45 passed through that area before, like the winter previous, and in that same area, you'd be driving along and he'd look over and there'd be foot It looked like human foot tracks, and I'd imagine that the snow is pretty deep because some of the moose are pretty tall. They're probably about eight eight foot or more, at least eight foot up to the about the top of their back. Because the snow is so deep, they have a tendency to walk on the road a lot to just try to preserve their Ownergy and I have a recording where we're falling a moose and it's running down the road and then it after it just got too tired, had jumped off. The moose had just almost disappeared. So that's what I had in mind when I saw those tracks out there, thinking that's odd that it looks like almost human tracks, you know, because if it was a four legged animal, the underbelly of it would be dragging. The tracks would just be a little probably more shuffled or muddled together, and which was in almost that same area where I saw that initial sighting. In the second one, it was middle of winter and it was just past it as I'm going north one to two miles and it

15:18 was probably about midnight, one o'clock in the morning, and it was a full moon. The lights don't carry as well when it's a full moon. And just past where I saw there's some other first snowmobilers would go generally in the wintertime, and pullouts are probably three three hundred feet or so long, and they're pretty wide because they'll be pulled and trailers stuff like that for their snowmobiles. And it was really cold, I remember that, and it was a full moon. It was probably about twenty below maybe a little bit colder.

16:15 And I'm getting tired a little bit, and I get to one of those pullouts, there's two of them, and they're on the right hand side, and I get to where I could see a little bit and I see the shadow of something. And when I first initially seen it, it was just kind of walking. I'm just I didn't really I figured it was probably a moose or something, and I hadn't seen any trucks or trailers anything like that. Pulled over there, because sometimes I would pull over. I was pulling. I pulled doubles a lot, so we're like one hundred and thirty four feet long, so you can't just pull over anywhere. When I first steena, it just was walking in the closer I got it was getting ready to like it surprised it, and it was getting ready to bolt to the left, and it made that body just your movement, like it was getting ready to run in it thinking AH might have just said, well, I'll screw it, I'll just keep going. And so at this point I'm thinking, I'm looking around for vehicles. I thought maybe somebody's broke down my initial thought. So I'm looking for vehicles, snowmobiles, anything like that. But

17:52 I'm also looking on the object to try to see any kind of reflective gear like a face mask, advisor or any kind of reflectiveness on the code, or snow pants gloves, something like that. And I didn't see anything, and the object was just really big. This one. I could tell it was a lot bigger big foot, and it was wider, and it just was walking, just meandering towards me, so I could see how wide it was and it must have been about four foot wide, maybe a little bit whiter, and it's walking towards me, and I'm starting to slow down a little bit because it must have been going about fifty five sixty And as I'm watching it, it would speak just on the outside to my light, what my light would carry, for my for my lights. And it's as I'm getting closer and I'm slowing down, and I'm really just focusing on what this is. As I had mentioned it was about twenty some below and if I'm

19:26 thinking if it's if they needed help or anything like that, just etiquette, especially that cold middle of nowhere. As I'm getting closer, I could see how big the belly was. This belly on this I couldn't touch my hands together, maybe three medicine balls all in one, if not bigger than that. And it just was had this kind of a wattle and it was dark because you know, the moon and stuff was behind it. And this one I didn't quite get a as good of a clear picture as I did during the day of that first one. And but it's walking kind of at a diagonal towards the white one from where it was. And as I'm getting closer.

20:40 I'm slowing down. I'm probably down forty year or so, and I'm trying to see but they just need help. And I realized how tall it was, and I would then again say it was probably ten eleven football and I just was like slow motions. As I'm looking out the window, I just forgot where i was. I'm just focused on looking to my right hand side out of the passenger side as I'm starting to roll up to it, and it just stopped and it's just staring at me. And I think I'm probably about eight to ten feet maybe a little bit more, not much.

21:36 I'm just looking at it and the shoulders. Like I said, it was super wide, but the biggest thing that really stuck out was the belly, just because how big he was, and I it just stared at me. I couldn't quite see because I couldn't see the top of the head. It was above the what I could see out across the vehicle out of this semi end. So it was taller than like the I don't know how to explain it, but I could see out of the window of the passenger side if I didn't get a facial look on it. But I just remember, it just kind of just watched me by go by in some motion. I'm just like, I'm not stopping, if that's what I think it was. And there again, I was just kind of disbelieve, trying to explain to myself and comprehend what I just saw. And I drove as the way to Anchorage and I didn't say anything for a few months, and I was that had kind of freaked me out because knowing not only be lucky to see one, but two within that time span, and I'm thinking that's pretty crazy. First

23:07 of all. Second, I pull over in these spots and sleep, so I'm thinking to myself, oh my gosh, he saw my truck. He saw me. I could imagine on the side of the road trying to sleep and him out there because I was in that semi and it's a big semi trip and I felt small, and I just kind of envisioned him wrapping. He could probably wrap his arm around the cab of the truck and just shake the whole thing. And I think, you know, you saw me freaking me out, feeling the side of the truck open or I don't know.

23:49 My mind was starting just kind of racing all over by then, but it was that one did freak me out because I pull over a lot in that area to sleep, and I didn't really know what the thinkers say or do. That is fascinating is that you said that's also in the Cooper Landing area. Yeah, it's up by somewhat lake, which is so they call it the Why. So if you're headed south on I can't remember that Seward Highway.

24:30 If you keep going straight, you go to Seward and then there's a Y as you're kind of dropping out of the mountains, and if you take the Y, which would be to the right, you go to Cooper Landing. It's about six seven miles from the Y and that'll take it CNAI, homer So Dot and stuff like that. But where i'd seen both of them was in between Somewhat Lake or right by the lake and the Why, which is I think it's within four to six miles. I'm actually looking at a map right now, and yes, you are correct. There's the lake, there's the Why. You take that exit off it goes to Cooper Landing, so I can see the exact area that you're talking about between the Why and the Lake. That's absolutely fascinating and It kind of kept me up for a little bit, and I never stopped back in those areas to sleep anymore after that. It must have been probably in the spring, so it must have been about April. I was in the Cooper in Cooper's Landing. There's a cafe called the Sunrise Cafe right there, and I'd stopped in there a lot

26:00 and eat where I was breakfast or dinner. And I was in there and there's a gentleman, two of them actually in there talking about bigfoot. And the one guy that had mentioned he said his grandfather had seen families in that area and had homestead in that same area where I saw the two. It's probably closer to the first one, because the first one was a little bit closer to the why. And this was back in the sixties. I can't remember exactly when he had mentioned, but he had said his grandfather had seen families back there in that area back then. He had said into his story, and then it came down to a pause, and I finally got enough nerve to say I saw a big foot in that area too. Wow.

27:11 And he turned around and he looked at me and he goes, I believe you, because I was as a tempt to even say anything, and I'm just like, oh, my gosh, you can't believe I just said it, because thinking they're gonna say, oh, you're just pulling our leg. He goes and yes, where it was? And I told him what mile marker it was, and he goes like, yeah, it's just up on like three miles from there is where his grandfather had homesteaded, and so, yeah, it was. Do you remember the mile marker. I think it was around forty seven, forty eight and forty nine. There's a friend of mine who he's a bigfoot researcher, and I don't know if you're familiar with small town Monsters, but they had a Beyond the Trail series and he actually was researching at an area on the Kenai Peninsula and you can watch that as Alaska and Coastal Sasquatch on YouTube. But he's actually headed back up this summer to the Kenai Peninsula in Alaska again to research for an extended period of time.

28:30 I'm sure he will find this episode extremely helpful because you've been descriptive as to where the area and it sounds like there could be some stuff there. You've had two sightings in the area. You had the gentleman in the sixties that had multiple families that were being seen in that area by where his homestead was. It's just that's fascinating. Look between mile marker forty one and forty eight on the Stewart Highway. I guess if you're going north, it'd be on the right hand side on somewhat lakeside. And how long ago did this happen? Tim February tenth of twenty eighteen, and that was after so it might have been in It might have been a month or two. I might have seen that second one, because that was the one that really freaked me out and I really just being that much closer to it and seeing I'm feeling that small and a truck that big, and I finally reached out to somebody.

29:48 I think they might run up there. I don't. I didn't know what to really expect when I said anything. I didn't know if they ever did or not. So that must have been probably in depend in December January of two seventeen, and the first one would have been in September October twenty seventeen as well. I don't want to overstep, but if you would be able to send any information that you've written down would be extremely helpful in that email. But that Bigfoot Society at gmail dot com. Yeah, that would be great. Yeah, definitely, that would probably be very helpful to Alex for sure. Do they go up there? Is it often or every year?

30:48 It's not. Last year they were filming some documentaries up there, Small Town Monsters was and then Alex and Eli there they were up there at Ron and they were doing their thing at the Area A, which is a cabin that's had some big foot activity around it. But this summer, Alex is going to be spending multiple weeks in Alaska again, so if he has some solid leads to follow, like maybe this, he'll have the time to look at those leads for sure. So it's pretty cool. That would be pretty neat to get back in there and research it. And winter time, I guess it's easier to probably see in the winter time, just because you can see the tracks and stuff like that, like I was seeing, and I always I've seen it a lot over the time going down there, and I just often wonder to myself thinking what would make tracks like that? Sure?

31:56 And I think I know that now to say exactly, just not knowing deep the snows. And really I often wondered that with the snowmobile or stuff like that, that we're in those areas because where they do pull over into those big pullouts. Let's see a vehicle park there for days, two, three, four days, and somebody had mentioned their cabins and stuff back in there that'd be right into and that was generally the reasoning why people would park and go go up there. And then driving that every day, you just get to know where every little if anything's out of place, you notice it.

Have you ever ran into any other interesting big foot stories along the way or just the main big footing of your career was right here in Alaska. It was right there in Alaska. Down here in Montana, there was somebody had told the story to a very short version, and they were telling me there was somebody that they have. I don't know if there's any truth or not, but that they use portals and if you do see one, they want you to see them. And they're supposed to be these things that were made out of rock that giants maybe Bigfoot has made. I don't know enough about the details, but I could send you the link and stuff that I did look at that this person had told me about, and I can forward that to you as well, because I was curious knowing that i'd be talking to you on talking to that person and just kind of seeing if there was any kind

34:21 of correlation of with that first sighting just vanishing because it just disappeared. But when you're going that fast too, it's really hard to You're scanning the lay of the land as fast as you to see all that you can, and but it just disappeared. So you're just putting two to two together and not knowing really, but so it's just kind of something in the back of your mind. And final question, Tim before I let you go, And this has been an amazing conversation. I'm sure you've had some time to think in the years past about what you saw and about Bigfoot, and you may have looked at things or research stuff like that, But ever since that time, what do you feel that we're dealing with when we're talking about Bigfoot up there in Alaska? What is this creature all about, my guess, probably just survival and trying not to be seen. It's really there's no I don't know.

35:43 There isn't enough about it. I hear about all these sightings, but is there any really good clear picture that says, oh my gosh, that's and everybody's probably wreaked out thinking, oh, I just got great footage and you look at it. So I could be wrong. I don't know, but I kind of at the same time, I was like, as much as it seems like it's seen more and more throughout the world, eventually one day I'm guessing better footage. And second I'm like, if I didn't slow down, has there been anything or anybody to come around a corner and boom hit them or something. It's something to think about it. And one of these days you would think that, you know, a trucker would have some kind of incident, especially in a remote state like Alaska, with a big foot in their truck, and hopefully they would be safe because that's a very large animal.
