He Saw a Hairy Giant in a Pond Beside Michigan’s I-94
A massive, reddish-brown figure stood in a pond beside Michigan’s I-94, moving its arms beneath the surface. Watching from a passing car, a witness noticed a depth gauge nearby. By his estimate, the water reached roughly six feet—and came only to the figure’s waist.
In this episode of Bigfoot Society, Jeremiah Byron hears from a witness with a law enforcement and corporate security background about two unexplained Michigan sightings, including the roadside encounter near Hartford that sent him and his companion turning around for another look.
More callers share strange experiences across the country: two fishermen describe a hairy figure drinking at a remote Minnesota shoreline, an uncle and nephew discover around 30 nest-like structures on Nebraska farmland, and an Alabama resident hears a roar so deep he feels it in his chest. In Oklahoma’s Jack Fork Mountains, a mother and her children spot a two-legged silhouette on a dirt road at dusk.
What was that figure doing in the Michigan pond? Hear the details directly from the witness.

45 Good morning. Well, good afternoon now. Good afternoon. Uh, thanks for coming up. Feel free to, uh, to share what you've experienced over the years, my friend. Um, well, um, I live in Western Alabama around the Tuscaloosa area. Um, and Northern Tuscaloosa is very rural, a lot of woods, um, a lot of agriculture. Um, and the house we lived in, there was a big patch of woods that we roamed in all the time. And, um, on one occasion, um, walking through the woods, um, You know, when I hunt, I know what deer sound like. I know what coyotes sound like and all of that. While walking through the woods, there was something in the woods all of a sudden that made, the only way I can explain it was it was the deepest bass sound I've heard, like a roar that I felt in my chest.
35 And then it took off tearing through the woods. I never saw it. but it was, it was, it sounded like it was knocking trees down as it went through the woods. So it didn't sound like a deer or anything. I thought somebody's bull had gotten out maybe. And then one of my neighbors who was close by, we were speaking one day and she had the same encounter with something, a real deep, just like a loud noise and a tearing through the woods. So we got to talking about the possibility of what it could be and, We decided maybe with Bigfoot and we got to researching. And sure enough, if you go out in the woods where we're at, there are trees that are all bent over and trapped under like other trees placed on them to bend them over and stuff. And I actually found a footprint and I documented it. It's on the Alabama Bigfoot Society, which I don't think is no longer active. But there's a picture on their page where I took my shoe and laid next to the print. And you can clearly see the heel and the toe prints. um, where it had stepped in wet ground. And I would say, uh, the footprint was probably less, less Shaquille O'Neal has been walking around out in our woods.
45 It was huge. It was probably at least like a 16 or 17 size. And this is barefoot with no shoe on. Um, and so there was just lots of things. And my wife too, we encountered the same thing. Like I was telling her about it. And, um, we went out one night and the same thing happened really close and it scared her so much. She But we've never actually spotted or seen it. We've just heard it and seen the footprint, seen the signs of it. But there have been people that have reported down the road from us have actually seen a Bigfoot crossing the road at night as they were going home. Oh, wow. That's incredible. You have all that activity in your area.
27 And if you want to. Send out, you know, give my email to anyone that you know in the area that's had sightings or activity. Feel free to do so. It's bigfootsociety at gmail.com. But, you know, I've heard from people having encounters in Bankhead National Forest, in Talladega National Forest. Yes. Your area is new. That's cool. That's cool. Yeah. And like I say, it's a very, like where we're at, northern Tuscaloosa County up into Fayette and Walker County and all this area. It's very rural. I mean, there are woods that stretch for miles, so it's a perfect habitat. And of course, there is some wildlife refuges and things like that. So I'm positive that there are some up here.
13 Just from the encounters that I've had and encounters that other people have talked about and what people have seen, I'm positive 100% that there is activity up here. Oh, absolutely. I think that you've got activity in the entire state, to be honest. It's wild down there. Thank you for coming up. I appreciate you sharing what you've experienced and definitely keep me in the loop with if anything else happens down there. Yeah, certainly will. Thank you so much for having me on. All right. Thank you. Andrew, how's it going? Hello, Andrew.
55 Yep, you there? Yes, is this Andrew? Yes, it is. Awesome. All right, go ahead, Andrew. Feel free to share what you've experienced there. Yeah, so I live in southeast Nebraska, and we have farmland that's about 20 miles away from where my actual house is. And last year, I took my nephew down just to walk around the pasture that we have that has a creek that runs through it. He's from Indiana and he wanted to go just wander around the pasture. And we found several different, almost what I would almost consider like nests, like where the trees were broken and like something was hunkering down behind them. Then as we were walking, we just kept hearing different whistles from all over the place.
46 That's extremely interesting. Is this around Odo County? No, this is Saline County. Saline County, okay. Which I think, oh no, yeah, it's the southeast corner of Nebraska. Okay. Very interesting. Okay, this is probably, yeah, it's just, like, they did not look like just tree fall. It just, it looks like they were placed there on purpose. Have there been any sightings in that area, in that county, that you know of?
31 Not that I know of, but I remember my dad, when he grew up on the farm, he would tell us stories about hearing different things out in the woods that he didn't know what they were. So I don't know if it was happening back then still. That would have been back in the 50s and 60s. Very, very interesting. Yeah. In all the spots we found, it was like a vantage point where if someone was there, they'd be able to see what was going on around. Them. The things that look like nests, did you happen to look or were you able to look to see if maybe there was hair present at all or?
14 We didn't see any hair. We tried looking for footprints, but it had been so dry we couldn't see any footprints or anything. Gotcha. But in total, we found probably about three of them throughout the pasture. Very, very interesting. If this continues, definitely. And some of them were like. Go ahead. Some of them were like pine branches, which they were leaned up against trees that weren't pine trees. Okay. Gotcha. We'd find them kind. Of on some different, like, oaks or maples, but they had pine needles on them.
54 Have you ever been out to the Nebraska Bigfoot Museum in Hastings? Yes, I have. I took my son there about two years ago. Okay, awesome. I sent her a message on Facebook, but she never answered me. Back when I sent it. Okay, gotcha. I bet she gets a ton. It'd be interesting if maybe you were able to go again and to ask if they've gotten any other reports from that area, that county, you know? Yeah, and if I can find them, I think I might still have some pictures on my computer of them also. Awesome.
36 But I don't have my computer with me. Sure. Keep me in the loop if this sort of thing continues to happen in your area. Yeah, I know. My nephew's going to be back at the end of the month, so he was talking about wanting to go down and look again and see if we can find anything. So when we do go down, I hope to make sure I hit you up. Absolutely. You've got my emails right there on screen. It's bigfootsociety at gmail.com. But, yeah, thanks for coming up, Andrew. That's fine. Go ahead, Diane. Yeah. Well, there was a lot of different sightings going on in the area. I personally didn't see any Bigfoot sightings. um sightings but i've seen i was i've seen a ufo.
18 In 1973 when i was eight years old. But a lot of people a lot of people seen the um ufos around bigfoot sightings when we were younger and since uh back then a lot of people were scared to talk about it and the police um they really didn't uh feel they could really do anything just uh make a report and uh but if you read about the ones in pennsylvania it was all summer it was for years this went on and the day uh the like the week before I seen the UFO, I was in my backyard and I climbed over the fence to see my two little guy friends in their house.
12 I went over to their house and my mother called me to get home and she sounded really scared. And I said, oh, no, I'm going to get in trouble. So I climbed over the fence, and there was this big red, like, size of a basketball. Fireball. It was just a red big ball right in the corner of where the link fence was where I was climbing over. And I got real scared, and I ran up the stairs, and I ran so fast I fell, and I busted my knee open. And I said, Mom. Did you see that? She says, I didn't see nothing.
56 Here she was looking out the kitchen window and she seen it and she got scared. So she called me home. But I don't know if she knew that's the way I went over there. Instead of walking around, I took a shortcut. And she told me, she told me. She told my brother that she seen it and she didn't want to talk about it because she didn't want to scare everybody. And like a week later, we came from, we went like for a picnic at Grillsboro State Park. And my parents got into an argument that we're not going anywhere if we're all we're going to do is be fighting with each other. So I sat in the station wagon and I'm sitting there and I look to my right.
43 I see, I guess they call them aliens. I don't know what they are. Exactly. Exactly. And I see him was staring at me. Then the next thing I knew, I woke up on the leather seat, and the. Seat was freezing. And it was the middle of summertime. It was cold. I got out, and I looked up, and I seen a UFO. And I ran in the house, told my mom I was all excited what I seen. And she told me I was dreaming. But that was just one of the many things that was going on. We've seen him outside. My brother's seen one. He was riding his bike down the side of the house. And he's seen one sitting on the side of the house on the windowsill.
30 And we were younger. And my brother Donna was a demon. He threw his bike and he ran in the house. And he got real scared. He didn't tell me about it until years later. And I had strange things, like I'd be out in my backyard, and I'd feel like pebbles. Being thrown at me. Really? Yeah, pebbles flying at me. I'm looking around, like, who's throwing pebbles at me? And somebody pulling a prank, and I'm looking around, and I. Don't see nobody. And then I was playing with my matchbox cards underneath the house, where it was like we had, like, all set up with bridges and stuff. And I look and I seen this thing come at me and he goes, do you want to go with me? And, and I telepathically told him, no, I'm going to get in trouble if I go with you and disappear on my parents again.
29 And there. Was like a flash of light. And then I came to, and I was like real scared. And I ran back in the house and, And it was like many other things, but I don't want to get into them all. It's too much right now to remember every single detail. Absolutely. Do you mind saying what part of Pennsylvania this happened in? Northeast. Northeast. Northeast. Really? Wow. I was going to guess Southwest, but wow. Northeast by Scranton and Poconos? Oh, yeah. Really? In the 73 time range? Yep. Wow. Yeah, the 1970s were wild. And my father was a police officer, and he worked in the reserves.
14 So we couldn't say anything. He'd lose his job, you know? And my father seen one when he was younger at a bus stop waiting for the bus to go see his girlfriend. And he had a big foot. No, he'd just seen a UFO. Oh, okay. Yeah. Did. Thinking back to that time frame, do you remember hearing from anyone else how they had a Bigfoot sighting in the same time frame? Well, I heard stories when we used to go on picnics and there was this family. They had like 12 kids. And I had all brothers, so I used to go and run off with the girls to do, you know, hang out. And I heard stories about them seeing, like, a Bigfoot up in the area where we used to go picnicking up there. There was Girlsboro State Park. It's still there, but I haven't been there for years.
17 And. Yeah, they said they'd seen weird stuff. People were talking about seeing weird stuff in the woods, and they had a nice lake out there, and you could go fishing. It was really nice out there. Wow. Yeah, then my mom got tired because she was. Pregnant with my other brother. And we didn't have the youngest brother yet, but she was just tired. And I can't blame her. You know, it's hard walking around. Watching out for your kids. And I got lost there because I was mad I wanted to go swimming. But she had to take, you know, fathers back then, they didn't really care. do much with the kids they just sat there and she got mad at me because i went i went and took off i wanted to learn fishing and i had strangers strangers teaching me how to fish oh wow because i had nobody to teach me yeah so yeah they were the guys were teaching me how to fish off the thing and my line kept getting tangled i remember that.
26 But but. Sorry the the family that had the sighting did they say what color it was. They said it was brown like a grizzly bear, I guess. But we don't have grizzlies up in that area. We only have black bears or small brown bears. But there's no grizzlies. When they were talking about that, I thought people were making up stories because kids were going to go out in the woods and stuff. But I don't think so. I had weird feelings up in the woods. And I live in the city, so when I was out there, we'd go.
08 Exploring all over. But I'm glad I didn't run into a Bigfoot because I was dealing with enough of stuff back then. Did anyone ever tell you a story of seeing a white Bigfoot in that area? No. Okay. Gotcha. No. Interesting. No, but you should read up about that. Uh, cause there was all weird stuff going. And that was, I think the Vietnam war was like coming to an end or it just ended around that time. So there was, all I heard was Vietnam and it was the guys coming back.
50 And I remember it was pretty, pretty depressing. You know, do you have these young soldiers coming back? And, um, It was a weird time. No, absolutely. There's so many accounts, sightings from the 70s all over the U.S., but Diane, thank you so much for coming up and for sharing what happened up there in northeast Pennsylvania. Okay. Thank you for having me. You got it. Have a good one. Bye-bye. Hey, Sherry. Thanks for coming up. What did you experience down in southeast Oklahoma?
32 We were in the Jack Fork Mountains, and we had been out there all day. It's very isolated, very mountainous, and we had heard something in the woods all day and, you know, thought it was a deer or something like that, and we happened to be leaving, and kind of dusky dark, and me driving too fast, I kind of slid past a road, and me and the kids, and they were 12 and 13, and we just, I mean, looked down, and it was standing in the middle of the road, kind of had the setting sun behind it. I mean, it. Looked just, I mean, exactly like you see things on TV.
14 I mean, and we just kind of all looked at each other and like, did you see that? And by the time I stopped and backed up, it was gone. And we drove down there. We never saw it. But I know there's been a lot of other, you know, sightings around southeast Oklahoma. Oh, absolutely. Yeah, that Sardis Lake area is pretty wild. It looks like that's where it was around that area. Yeah, kind of, and a little bit back to the west, a little more from Sardis, but it's in that general area rural area. it's very mountainous like i said it's very you know all that part of the country i mean that's the reason they have the bigfoot festival down in honobi is because but yeah it was i mean like i said i've I don't know what it was we saw. I mean, it was definitely on two legs.
11 It wasn't a bear or anything like that. You know, I don't know, you know, that one of the great mysteries. I've always felt like they were out there, but. Were you able to get a good look at its face at all or? It was probably about half a mile down a dirt road. Like I said, the sun was behind it. So you could, you know, see a good outline, you know, with it standing there. I mean.... I don't know. Like I said, we had been hearing stuff in the woods all day. The kids were running around screaming, playing. And I always, I thought it maybe was intrigued by all the noise the kids were making.
53 I don't think, you know, it was violent or aggressive or anything like that. I think it just was curious maybe. And, you know, it left when we left. So I don't know. Haven't ever saw it again. That's very interesting. I'm looking for footprints. Okay. But so I don't know, may never see it again. I wish I'd had my phone out or something like that where I could have got a picture or something. That's the curse of Bigfoot. You know, it's like you just sometimes you seem to forget and sometimes you can't get it ready quick enough to take a photo or take a video. It's wild. But I mean, that's an area I hadn't I've never taken a report from Jack Fork.
40 mountain area so thank you for for sharing this oh. You're welcome. All right well thank you for coming up today. Sherry okay thank you bye-bye hey. Big dog this is jeremiah so what have you uh this is out in michigan right. Yeah um i've had two separate uh events happen and they've been a few years ago so the first initial one was on i-94 which goes uh east and west and we were traveling west I was with a friend of mine, and we were getting ready to go to the town of Hartford. And it's much like it is today. It was sunny, clear vision. Traffic was backed up on 94.
25 People were slowing down, and the pond in the area is obviously still there. And we didn't quite understand why everybody was at a standstill. We stopped. saw just ahead that there had been probably a traffic accident. So everybody had to get in the right lane. But then we noticed people were really slowed down and I saw people putting their heads out the windows. So there was an account reported that people were seeing something on 94. We were directly across from this pond. And as I turned and look, I was in the passenger seat this time, not driving. I saw in the pond there's a depth pole.
08 We see a lot of ponds at the end of farms that are right up against the highway that have these depth gauges. And you could see where this gauge would go up to right about eight foot or so, maybe a little bit more. And the pond was quite high. We had had extreme flooding that year. And as I looked over, I saw lichen on part of the water, but that's not what caught my attention. What caught my attention was it looked as if something had gone in from the left and it left, you know, awake through the lichen. Then I saw this reddish brown thing, this mass. And I mean, it was massive. And I know a deer when I see one. This was not a deer, the person driving with me. We both do paranormal, so we must have been in the right place at the right time. And he's an avid deer hunter. So as we looked over, all I could see was this broad back.
01 You could tell it was hairy. Up about the six foot mark where this area collects water, I think for this farm, you know, he might use it for the crops, whatever it may be, that was at its waist. And then it went up a little higher, and all I could see was the back of what there was of a neck. There wasn't much of a neck. I could see the head was down. And, you know, at the same time, I saw arms. I could see the back of the arms kind of moving, like it was doing something in the water, you know, maybe getting food. I don't know what the hell it was doing. So, you know, I'm into this stuff, obviously, and I'm just looking at it like I can't believe my eyes, but we had to keep moving slowly because cars are moving. We broke the line, got into the left lane, went up to the emergency turnaround, which you can't do now because they've got the highway done a different way now. And we broke the law. I admit it. We got on the other side of the highway to get back to the other turnaround to come back up the shoulder to see exactly what we thought we were seeing. We weren't the only people that were seeing this. And as we got right back to that same spot, people were eyeballing us like, what the hell are you guys doing? We knew what we were doing. We got up there and now you could see the trail had broken the lichen to the right and it had gone into this heavily wooded area and now it's gone. It's gone from the middle of the pond. Now I don't know how many other people had reported this to local, but I know that there
33 might be something on the BFRO here in Michigan. I know I reported it and then a few years after that, the second encounter was completely different color. I was coming in from Colon, Michigan. So if anybody knows Michigan who might listen to your podcast, that's south of Mendon. It's south of Kalamazoo. And I had spent the night there doing a paranormal event. And it was a Sunday and another bright day. This is the weirdest part. So I've come off M60 on the Silver Lake Drive. And I'll share with you why that's kind of unique to this encounter. I looked to my left directly as I turned on to Silver Lake, and there's a row of trees. So when farmers do their crops out here, they always have a select row of trees. I think for snow break, wind break, whatever that may be. As I looked to my left, I don't know what caught my eye or why I happened to look. I just looked over there and I saw this immense black thing standing at the end of that tree line. And it couldn't bend less than a quarter mile. It couldn't have been less than that at all. And I see it swaying and it's looking at me. I can't really see the face, but I see it moving. Now, the thing that startled me was as I'm rubbernecking the hell out of this thing, I went over the rumble strip on the opposite side of the road. And, you know, that's when you like see sparks and you taste your own blood, you know, one of them things. So I thank God there was
04 no cars coming. I went back over. I did the same thing I had done before. Again, I can't believe my luck. I'm like, what the hell am I seeing? I do a U-turn, I come back around, and it's gone. And, you know, I know a lot of people throw out a lot of size comparisons, and it's really hard for some people to do that in the public. Me being from, you know, a law enforcement and a corporate security background, Some of the training there kind of lends to me that I can kind of estimate, even at a distance, maybe how big something might be. I'm not saying I'm accurate. I'm just telling you that I would say it was well over seven foot. And who would know I am just going to be coming on to Silver Lake Road, a paranormal guy, dressed in a suit, standing out there in the middle of July on a hot-ass day, you know, to make me just like, whoa, I have an encounter, right?
55 So. I don't know. I then pulled into the driveway across from where I saw this. And it's a young farmer and his family, and he wanted to know what I was doing in his driveway. He was not too happy that I had come onto his property. We'll just put it that way. And I just said I'd seen something. He just asked me politely to leave. Okay, whatever. Had his dogs barking and whatnot. And I didn't even notice any dogs barking or anything when I spotted this. So Silver Lake Drive... is unique in the sense that my good friend Bob Penny is in a book called Weird Michigan, and further down on that route, going into Vicksburg, he had seen some dogman-like creature with his buddy crouched down by a bridge and was eating something. Bob shared that story with me years before, and I looked it up in the book. We know who wrote the book, and she's into all this stuff, but It was weird, it happened on the same road. I couldn't believe, I guess, my luck. And being in the paranormal, you know, obviously when I see things or I spot things that's a little hard to believe, I'm always trying to ramble my head and debunk it first But those two things, I couldn't debunk them. I was not allowed to go out there on the property to look for footprints or anything of that nature. So it's kind of cool that you allowed me to share this. It's pretty unique to things that I've experienced. You know, I'm 61 now in the
28 process of looking into a lot of the things. I'm not just into the ghost stuff. I'm into, you know, the whole Bigfoot squash thing. I told my mother at 13 I was going to become a zoologist and go find this thing because in the 70s we all fell in love with Mr. Byrne and you know the BFRO and all that and I'd seen all the movies and all that stuff but that I didn't end up doing that I ended up doing other things and then Now I'm retired. So those are my two experiences. And I will not tell people that I saw Bigfoot or Sasquatch. What I'm telling you is, and I would tell everybody this, is that I saw something and it wasn't human. I don't know what exactly I was looking at. So there's mine.
11 And I know there's been other reports here in Kalamazoo County. I know there's been stuff. My buddy has seen things up in Gaylord, which is the northern Michigan, in the middle of northern Michigan. And I have friends in UP who come across things up there as well. In fact, I know the Bigfoot show went up there, and one of my friends was at their town meeting to talk about their experiences, you know, because one had run across the road up there, I guess, in front of a lady. So... I believe these things are everywhere. I've had the luck doing my podcast. I've had, I had a bucket list that happened, which is I got the Olympic project people on my podcast a couple of years ago. And finally getting able to being able to speak to Jeff Meldrum was pretty cool. And everybody else too, you know, they all were very informative and, you know, just threw things at them. And I like to listen to their thoughts and everything that goes on. But anybody who's into this, you know, like yourself and anybody else that, It really wants to take a look at this, you know, have an open mind because, I mean, the possibilities in the universe of a lot of different things that we don't quite understand. I think it's a real creature. I think it's a real thing. Now I've seen two things that I don't exactly know what they are. And I think for people to say that, well, somebody would have seen it, well, people do see it. they most of the time it seems like it's by accident uh i think my both of mine seem to be accidental you know and if you hear stuff from the northwest they seem to be almost accidental too like it's mine and it's business and
43 then we just happen along it but would you agree i'll ask you this would you agree that they are obviously intelligent because they know we are bad and they stay they try to stay away from us the best that they can would you agree with that I think. They're intelligent enough to know when people have good or bad intentions. Right. And that affects the encounter, to be honest. Yeah. I think so, too, yeah. And I don't think they're also docile either because, you know, listening to people on Coast to Coast and other shows and having them on my podcast, there seems to be, just like us, there's good people and there's bad people. So why would you not think there would be good, you know, good Squatch and bad Squatch? And, you know, they go back to Native American reports, and I just don't think if you have enough of those on every continent... which is obviously the case. I mean, it's not mass hysteria. These are not things. These were going on before people even had ways to mass communicate. So it's something's happening. You know, there's something out there. I just wanted to share that with you.
56 I am so glad you came up. Those were some areas of Michigan I hadn't heard of from before. So thank you, Big Dog, for sharing that. And what's the name of your podcast? Mine is unrestrictedparanormal.com. That's my network. And the podcast, we're trying to rebrand it because we've had it the same thing for so many years and it's time for a change. So we're going to go back to calling it the Paranormal Periodical. And that was named after our magazine that we had out for a couple of years, just sharing local stuff. We just wanted to share... Everybody's always about the TV shows and all the other stuff, but we had things to share as well. And we've had some odd things happen here in Michigan. And I don't ever, I'm not going to ever do a magazine again, because I don't think people realize how much work that entails.
48 And we are only doing it, you know, twice, two or three times a year. But the podcast is fun. I know you, I'm sure you get joy out of what you do. Just sharing information and finding like-minded people and, listening to other people's stories and trying to find some continuity, you know, into what we're coming across or even if it's a ghost or even if it's UFO stuff, because I've had great guests on with, from the UFO community too. I think Philip Mantlella, Great Britain is one of the best because he broke open the Rendlesham, uh, sightings and a lot of other things even here in Louisiana. So it's, it's fun. It's fun to talk to so many people and, I mean, obviously something's going on, right? Because all of us are having all these strange experiences, and that's what I say about paranormal, is that the phenomenon's real. You should remain skeptical, you know, even if you're a believer.
45 I'm a believer. Until you see it, hear it, feel it, whatever, for yourself. But at the same time, you know, keep your mind open. I mean, we are minuscule in this universe of whatever has created it. But a lot of the stuff I think is very wondrous to ponder and talk about. And I just tell everybody to keep, keep exploring the unknown. It's, if you'd say you don't have fun looking into this or doing what I do, which is investigating it for 22 plus years, I would lie. I would be lying to people, but I have a lot of fun at what I do. And so I hope they enjoy your show and I hope you keep doing what you're doing. And thanks for giving me, I guess, probably more than five minutes, but you gave me a little bit to talk about my things.
30 Thank you for coming up and, uh, yeah, uh, stay in touch, uh, with, uh, with what you find out in the future, but thanks for coming up, man. Hey, no worries. I'm, I'm, I'm buddies with the, uh, BFRO guy here in Michigan. He'll be back on again here soon. And if you guys reach out to him, you know, that'd be great. Cause you know, like I said, he's, he's up North of me and he always have something strange to share with me up there. Cause what's his name? I knew you were going to ask that. I can probably figure it out by looking at reports, so I can always do that. Yeah, I had brain surgery, so I'm still trying to find a deal. But everybody enjoy, and thanks for bringing me on. Appreciate it.
10 All right. Have a good one. Hey, Neil. This is Jeremiah. Hey, what's up? So it sounds like you had an interesting sighting in northern Minnesota. Yeah, you hear stuff all the time on YouTube. You know, being out here in the woods, you know, I'm pretty familiar with what animals make what noises. And there's, you know, especially around dusk, there's a lot of noises that I can't explain and no one else up here can. So I just want to, for the listeners, this is way, way up in Minnesota. This is up by the Boundary Waters, right?
57 Correct. Yep. Yeah. Wow. This is way, way up there. Can you describe what you saw that day? We were fishing and we were paddling into a bay and come around to Ben and there was he was sitting right there drinking. He saw us, stared at us for about two minutes and then Like it wasn't like we were no threat and stood up and walked back into the wood. Like nothing happened. Was he, how was he drinking?
37 Exactly. Oh, sorry. Go ahead. With his face in the water, not like in the water, but he was mouth, mouth to the water, but he wasn't scared of us. So he was like, uh, like lapping out of the water, like a dog pretty much. No, like mouth in the water, mouth to the water, not like with his tongue lapping. Okay. Interesting. Yeah, he wasn't using his hand to like scoop like I would, you know. Yeah, like it was no big deal to him. He saw us, stared at us for a minute or two and turned around and walked back in the wood like nothing happened.
25 So you saw it walk away for a few seconds, it sounds like. Yeah, he stood up and put his back to us and, you know, four or five steps and he was in the wood. Did you notice anything out of the ordinary about the way it was moving when it walked away from you? Yeah, he was definitely bipedal. He doesn't, you know, left foot left hand, right foot, right hand, not like a normal person would walk. Left foot, right hand, right foot, left hand, you know, to keep balance. He was definitely not a person. You know, you get up that far north, you know, people are even far between.
08 Especially on land up there, you know, there's no roads, there's no way in, no way out besides water. So if you see something on the land, it's either obviously a person or obviously an animal, and this wasn't either. Is what you saw, is it similar to like folks we see of pop culture, Bigfoot, or was this different in any ways? Similar, similar. It was a big monkey. That's how I would explain it. You know, that's how I would describe it. But you know, monkey. Hmm. Um, any, any one in particular that it looked more like?
53 No, I've never seen it. I've never seen it before or since myself and the dude I was with, neither one of us were very. Interested in going and looking for him. You know, neither one of us had a gun. So. Right. Absolutely. Uh, did it look more like a gorilla or a chimpanzee or maybe a bonobo or. I can't even say. Just a big, hairy monkey. Just like a man monkey. I don't know how to explain it. Like classic Sasquatch, what you'd imagine. Real tall, real big, real hairy. Gotcha. Was there a smell around the area when you were there?
37 We were out in the bay. Okay. Gotcha. And like I said, we weren't armed because we didn't plan on being on land. So. I didn't want to get too close. A lot of people tell you stories up there, especially, you know, the closer you get to the boundary, uh, you know, at night rocks being thrown at your tents and stuff. I definitely didn't want to be, uh, have anything thrown at me or capsize out way out there. You know, if anything happens, if anything goes south out there, you're pretty much done for it. You know, it's way up there. Like there's no people up there. Wow. So it's a pretty common occurrence to hear stories. like what you experienced up there in that area?
20 There's something out there, you know, the, uh, you know, the old guys at the, uh, at the resort where we parked, where we were like, where we moored our boat to get in it. Uh, you know, they weren't surprised. They certainly didn't call us liars. Oh, really? Wow. Yeah. That is extremely interesting. I'm sure, yeah, being an old-timer in that area, you probably experienced some wild stuff. And there's a Chickalaw Reservation up there, correct? It's the Ojibways. But, yeah, there's a lot of Indians up here, and they 1,000% believe in them.
03 Really? Wow. That would make sense. Neil, thanks for coming up. I appreciate you sharing what you experienced up there. Yeah, anybody wants to just get up Lake Vermillion and get on the water and head north, follow the shore around, make sure you take all the bays. You know, good luck. I hope you see them. Hey, Kalola, what's up? Hi, good. How are you? You know, this just really hits home. I mean, I'm from a family where Bigfoot was a big thing. I mean, my dad, he always had his... I don't know if you want to call him BFRO, but, uh, it was a UFO society thing that he.
43 Had in the home. Um, so like, you know how people would meet for Bible studies back in the seventies, this was like a big time. For like the church. Well, at the same time, there was like an insurgence of this. Well, this is a paranormal phenomenon. These are UFOs. These are big foots. They're spiritual. So if we're all on the subject of, you know, Getting down to stuff, how the universe works. Let's talk about this. So, you know, I mean, I guess maybe a. Person starts out with having an aura around them or where things will draw towards you, you know, because you might be more receptive or just open-minded.
29 Right. And I, we are always in the wilderness and hiking and, um, camping and fishing. And I was, I specifically remember it was cross country camp, Mammoth Lakes, California. Uh, we were out on like 15 miles. We ran part of like half. Of it, uh, cause we were training high altitude training and, um, A bunch of us were just, you know, the girls and the guys were separate because the guys, obviously they ran faster than us and the coach would take off with them, but it was just us girls.
13 And there were a few of us that were kind of lagging back. And I just remember going, this is beautiful. Let's stop and look. So a few of us stopped and we were just looking out over this. Valley and we were up on this trail and. We felt, we smelled something first. And it was weird. And we're like, is there like sulfur pits around here or something? You know, like those hot springs that are up there. Mono Lake and all that. But no. And then we're all, oh, maybe we got to be careful about mountain lions. You know, that's big in California with the mountain lions and the cougars and the bobcats.
54 We don't want to be getting stalked or whatever. But it wasn't that. Like, I don't know. There's just these things that, you know, you've encountered. We've seen bears, we know bears, their. Nature, and big cats, their nature. But this was just something different, and we all were creeped out. We're like, is there a man following us? We just feel like we're being watched. So that was kind of like, we kind of knew. On the way back, we're just running really fast, trying to catch. Up with the bigger group of girls. Uh and then that night in our we had like one of those villas so you know it was rented out with the whole team and um people were talking other people besides us were talking about did anybody hear something weird you know because.
49 We're way out in the middle of nowhere you know um. And that was like an actual experience that I had but it wasn't concrete you know what I mean it's It's just one of those where, well, I fell off and I can eliminate that it was or it could have been. We could have been being stalked by a mountain cat or, you know, who knows? I just that's why this has always interested me. And even my sisters, you know, we're all still, you know, we've kind of like brought a lot of people from the church in on it, too. So it's definitely a supernatural, definitely a paranormal thing.
31 Wow. That's, that's crazy. And the area, I mean, is that just outside of the Sierras or? It is in the Sierra Nevadas. Yeah. Oh, wow. Okay. Yeah. I'm pretty sure it's just north of there. It's like on the way to Tahoe. Okay. Oh, that's awesome. Um, good stuff. Wow. Thank you for, for coming up and for sharing, uh, That weirdness you experienced out there in Mammoth Lakes, California. Thank you. If you've had a Bigfoot encounter of your own, I would love to hear from you. You can send me an email with your encounter at bigfootsociety at gmail.com. I've come out with a free report about the top 10 Bigfoot hotspots. You can go over to bit.ly forward slash BFS report. I'm Jeremiah Byron. Thanks for listening to Bigfoot Society, and I'll see you in the woods.
