Capturing Bigfoot Screenings: Every Theater, Date and Q&A for the 2026 Tour
Capturing Bigfoot premiered to a sold-out crowd at SXSW in March 2026 and then disappeared. It's now heading to theaters across the country. The full screening list is out: 17 theaters, 12 of them with the filmmakers attending in person, starting October 13 and running through October 30.

What Is Capturing Bigfoot?
Capturing Bigfoot is a documentary directed by Marq Evans and produced by Tamir Ardon. It's about the Patterson-Gimlin Film. On October 20, 1967, Roger Patterson and Bob Gimlin shot 59 seconds of film at Bluff Creek in Northern California showing a figure later nicknamed "Patty." It became the most analyzed and debated Bigfoot footage in history.
The documentary is built around a reel of 16mm film that sat locked in a safe for decades. It features Roger Patterson's son, Clint Patterson, and Roger's widow, Patricia Patterson. The distributor says neither had given interviews about the film before. Bob Gimlin, Bob Heironimus, Dr. Jeff Meldrum, Bill Munns and Greg Long also appear.
After SXSW, the filmmakers kept it out of other festivals so audiences across North America could see the footage at roughly the same time.

National Bigfoot Day Screenings: October 20
The wide release lands on October 20, National Bigfoot Day. That's 59 years to the day since the Patterson-Gimlin Film was shot. Alamo Drafthouse will show it in Los Angeles (with the filmmakers in person), Austin, Raleigh, Brooklyn, Mountain View and Denver.
Don't miss the October 24 screening at the Majestic Theater in Union Gap, just outside Yakima, Washington, where Roger Patterson lived. Watching this film there should be something special.
