In this episode of the Bigfoot Society podcast, we are joined by John, a listener from Texas, who shares an intriguing tale from his past. Growing up immersed in the wilds of Deep East Texas, John's childhood was filled with hunting, fishing, and exploring the dense forests. Yet, a haunting experience one night in 1983 left a profound impact on him, changing his perception of the woods he once knew so well. John and Mark, his sister's boyfriend, found themselves in an unexpected situation that night, which John recounts with vivid detail. The experience evidently shaped his attitude towards the outdoors for years to come.

the first time in forty years about
his Bigfoot experience that he had in the
3
00:00:12.400 --> 00:00:16.719
Sabine River area of Dbast, Texas. You've experienced something similar to what John
4
00:00:16.760 --> 00:00:20.879
has, or have more information regarding
Bigfoot or other cryptids in the same areas,
5

please reach out immediately to me after
this episode. Remember, your encounter
6
00:00:24.679 --> 00:00:27.719
could be the key to unlocking this
mystery once and for all, so please
7
00:00:27.719 --> 00:00:31.719
don't hesitate to contact me at Bigfoot
Society at gmail dot com. All right,
8
00:00:31.760 --> 00:00:34.759
big for Society. I've got the
privilege of talking to John. He's
9
00:00:34.799 --> 00:00:39.039
a listener from down in Texas.
He's had some interesting things happened that he
10
00:00:39.119 --> 00:00:43.759
did want to share. So John, hope everything's going well. I'm going
11
00:00:43.799 --> 00:00:48.960
to go ahead and hand it on
over to you, sir, Yes,
12
00:00:49.000 --> 00:00:52.799
sir Jeremi. So it's good talking
to you this evening. I've read some
13
00:00:52.880 --> 00:00:56.560
of your podcasts and listened to him, so I wanted to share my story
14
00:00:56.679 --> 00:01:00.560
of something that I've never experienced before, of course. So basically I grew
15
00:01:00.640 --> 00:01:06.680
up in northeast Texas, a little
town called Henderson is where we first lived
16
00:01:06.879 --> 00:01:10.000
when I was six seven years old, I guess, and it was we
17
00:01:10.120 --> 00:01:14.400
lived well in the country. At
our closest neighbor was probably three miles from
18
00:01:14.519 --> 00:01:18.040
where we lived, and we had
a property that was on about forty acres.
19
00:01:18.319 --> 00:01:19.920
So I would hunt and fish.
I mean, I was always outdoors.
20
00:01:21.040 --> 00:01:25.200
Got three sisters, so it was
just me and my dad would come
21
00:01:25.239 --> 00:01:27.719
along sometimes lost the time he was
working there. You know, he did
22
00:01:27.799 --> 00:01:32.439
pipeline, so he was gone a
lot. So I spent a lot of
23
00:01:32.480 --> 00:01:36.760
times in time in the woods.
And it's pretty thick woods up there in
24
00:01:36.879 --> 00:01:40.760
northeast Texas, and you got a
lot of pine and oak and a cedar
25
00:01:40.840 --> 00:01:44.400
of course, and stuff like that. But I square hundred deer hundred.
26
00:01:44.519 --> 00:01:49.120
Nothing really out of the ordinary really
happened all those years I've spent out in
27
00:01:49.120 --> 00:01:53.560
the woods, and so I guess
when I was probably twelve, maybe thirteen,
28
00:01:53.879 --> 00:01:59.599
we moved to what I would call
deep East Texas, which is Newton
29
00:01:59.760 --> 00:02:02.519
Jack area. It's if you look
at a map, it's where Texas if
30
00:02:02.519 --> 00:02:07.159
you're not familiar with Texas, where
Texas kind of jets out a little bit
31
00:02:07.200 --> 00:02:12.599
into Louisiana right along the Sabine River. You've got the Angelina and the Sabine
32
00:02:12.680 --> 00:02:16.039
River right there, Lake for Sam
Ravern and Talda Ben to the north of
33
00:02:16.080 --> 00:02:20.919
that area. Closest thing I would
call to a rainforest. It's got its
34
00:02:20.919 --> 00:02:24.560
own micro environment down there. It
rains in the summer almost every day.
35
00:02:25.000 --> 00:02:29.360
It's really thick woods when you get
down in that part of Texas. When
36
00:02:29.400 --> 00:02:32.120
we first moved there, I would
take a can of spray paint and I
37
00:02:32.120 --> 00:02:36.719
would mark the trees. When I
was going into the woods, I wouldn't
38
00:02:36.719 --> 00:02:39.560
get turned around. It was literally, you know, that thick where you
39
00:02:39.680 --> 00:02:44.639
just there was some spots you probably
couldn't even see fifty feet in front of
40
00:02:44.680 --> 00:02:50.439
you. And so I would wear
my dad's welding shirts and some thick jeans.
41
00:02:50.439 --> 00:02:53.159
I'd have my mom. There used
to be patches that you'd get for
42
00:02:53.199 --> 00:02:55.639
your knees, and i'd have my
mom put those patches on my jeans so
43
00:02:57.039 --> 00:03:00.120
when I walked through the stuff,
I wouldn't get tore up by all the
44
00:03:00.120 --> 00:03:04.120
the thorns and bushes and all that
stuff going through there. It was really
45
00:03:04.159 --> 00:03:07.120
thick stuff. But I was a
kid, and every day after school I'd
46
00:03:07.159 --> 00:03:12.039
got there and i'd be after the
square hunting with duck hunting in the wintertime,
47
00:03:12.159 --> 00:03:14.879
the DUTs would fly through there,
and the wood ducks and stuff,
48
00:03:14.879 --> 00:03:16.879
and the hunting acres and stuff like
that. So I spent a lot of
49
00:03:16.879 --> 00:03:21.520
time in the woods. And one
of my sisters had met this guy and
50
00:03:21.719 --> 00:03:24.199
they started dating, and so I
got to know him, and his name's
51
00:03:24.319 --> 00:03:28.800
Mark and so, and they're still
together now. But you know, at
52
00:03:28.840 --> 00:03:31.960
the time, he was probably seventeen
eighteen years old, I said, I
53
00:03:31.960 --> 00:03:37.800
guess I was maybe twelve thirteen.
This was around eighty two eighty three,
54
00:03:37.879 --> 00:03:42.280
I think. And Mark had this
old Ford truck and his pride and joy
55
00:03:42.439 --> 00:03:46.000
and put a lot of money into
it, and single cab, little old
56
00:03:46.039 --> 00:03:49.560
truck, and I had put some
brand new Pioneer speakers in there with an
57
00:03:49.599 --> 00:03:53.039
AMP and just a typical high school
kid. I think I was in middle
58
00:03:53.080 --> 00:03:57.680
school at the time. So he
was always messing with me a little bit,
59
00:03:57.759 --> 00:03:59.919
I guess, because I was a
little brother and I was a younger
60
00:04:00.280 --> 00:04:03.639
ball, and plus I was his
girlfriends his little brother, So he take
61
00:04:03.719 --> 00:04:08.560
me out and would test me and
we'd go hunt and leave me out there
62
00:04:08.599 --> 00:04:11.599
to find my way back, and
that sort of Thing's a little prank and
63
00:04:11.719 --> 00:04:15.519
so just fun. It's been fun. So one weekend, my sister had
64
00:04:15.839 --> 00:04:18.680
decided she was going to go to
a party with some of her friends,
65
00:04:18.720 --> 00:04:23.040
and so Mark was like, uh, yeah, hey man, you want
66
00:04:23.040 --> 00:04:27.120
to go play some video games or
something like that. So I met him
67
00:04:28.160 --> 00:04:30.240
over by his house and we were
going to stay at his house that night.
68
00:04:30.360 --> 00:04:33.639
So we took off and the first
thing he did is w's a little
69
00:04:33.639 --> 00:04:36.759
convenience store. And he was going
these back roads and he wanted to stop
70
00:04:36.800 --> 00:04:41.120
the main roads. So we started
off on what was a tar road and
71
00:04:41.160 --> 00:04:46.720
then it turned into a dirt road, and then he made her a ride
72
00:04:46.759 --> 00:04:50.319
into what was a old logging road. So I recognize you, and I
73
00:04:50.360 --> 00:04:54.759
was familiar with logging roads, and
of course, growing up in East,
74
00:04:54.800 --> 00:04:58.920
taxes and get pretty common. So
we were driving on this old logging road
75
00:04:59.079 --> 00:05:02.120
and go pretty loads. You could
tell it had been there a while.
76
00:05:02.560 --> 00:05:06.160
Well, saplings were already starting to
grow up in the middle of the road,
77
00:05:06.240 --> 00:05:10.160
and so we were taking it easy
getting back up in there. So
78
00:05:10.279 --> 00:05:13.879
we got back there and he's got
the high beams on and he cranks up
79
00:05:13.920 --> 00:05:17.759
his new stereo and you really couldn't
hear yourself think almost over over the top
80
00:05:17.800 --> 00:05:23.079
of the thing. He's got van
hale and blasting. So we get back
81
00:05:23.079 --> 00:05:26.079
in this the end of this logging
road, and people that are not familiar
82
00:05:26.120 --> 00:05:30.000
with logging roads, most of them
are half a mile to three quarter a
83
00:05:30.000 --> 00:05:34.439
mile long, and typically one side'll
be logged out and the other side'll be
84
00:05:34.480 --> 00:05:38.639
pretty thit and so you can see
pretty good ways back in there. There's
85
00:05:38.639 --> 00:05:42.040
a lot of new growth and stuff. And then towards the end of it,
86
00:05:42.120 --> 00:05:44.920
they got a turnaround for the trucks. I guess where they loaded them
87
00:05:44.920 --> 00:05:47.240
back in the day and they would
have a place to turn around and get
88
00:05:47.240 --> 00:05:51.920
back out. So anyway stopped right
before. That's the area where the turnaround
89
00:05:53.000 --> 00:05:56.560
wasn't It's just a big open area, and on my side it was pretty
90
00:05:56.600 --> 00:06:00.759
thick wood still, and on his
side cleared out. People that have never
91
00:06:00.839 --> 00:06:05.360
been to East Texas or a place
that's really away from the sea, you
92
00:06:05.399 --> 00:06:10.800
don't realize how dark it is out
there until you really get out there in
93
00:06:10.879 --> 00:06:14.240
it when the moon's not out.
If you get out in the woods,
94
00:06:14.399 --> 00:06:17.360
you can't see your hand in front
of the face. It's just that dark
95
00:06:17.399 --> 00:06:23.199
where there's no light pollution at all
in the stars. It's just amazing how
96
00:06:23.319 --> 00:06:26.600
dark it can get out there.
I never really realized it until I went
97
00:06:26.680 --> 00:06:28.800
back. I lived in the city
for a while and went back there,
98
00:06:28.839 --> 00:06:32.480
and it's just incredible. So we're
sitting back there and just shooting the breeze,
99
00:06:32.800 --> 00:06:36.959
talking about girls and video games and
fishing and hunting stuff. Like I
100
00:06:36.959 --> 00:06:40.959
said, here's a prankster. So
he cut the music off real quick,
101
00:06:41.000 --> 00:06:44.720
and I'm still singing and he's laughing
about it. We're both laughing about it,
102
00:06:44.800 --> 00:06:47.279
and he cranks it back up,
and so we're just sitting there hanging
103
00:06:47.319 --> 00:06:53.720
out and listening to music, and
we hear something over the radio and muffled
104
00:06:53.720 --> 00:06:57.360
that. I couldn't tell what it
was. It sounded like somebody's screaming,
105
00:06:58.279 --> 00:07:01.079
and so he turned the radio down
and we were both looking at each other
106
00:07:01.079 --> 00:07:08.319
and not saying anything, and about
that time, it was something like you
107
00:07:08.360 --> 00:07:11.480
would hear out of a horror movie. It was a lot of screaming,
108
00:07:11.920 --> 00:07:14.839
you know. At that time,
those slasher movies were coming out, And
109
00:07:14.879 --> 00:07:17.360
that's how I referred to this,
a woman screaming or torn apart, however
110
00:07:17.399 --> 00:07:21.399
you want to say it. Man, We heard just just a loud scream
111
00:07:21.519 --> 00:07:26.759
beside his truck, and about that
time something hit the truck or hit it,
112
00:07:26.839 --> 00:07:30.160
or I don't know exactly how to
describe it, our throats through something
113
00:07:30.199 --> 00:07:34.959
at it. The whole truck just
shuddered, literally like somebody had dropped a
114
00:07:35.000 --> 00:07:39.519
fifty pounds log from twenty feet up
into the bed of the truck, as
115
00:07:39.600 --> 00:07:44.720
what it felt like, and there
was. It went from just us wondering
116
00:07:44.759 --> 00:07:47.480
what was going on to its sheer
panic and none of them in seconds.
117
00:07:47.839 --> 00:07:51.759
So he put it in reverse and
we're haulm out of there in reverse,
118
00:07:51.839 --> 00:07:59.120
which trying to navigate down this little
logging road and reverse, and we finally
119
00:07:59.199 --> 00:08:03.519
hit the road and he's, I
mean, he's fishtailing out. I can
120
00:08:03.519 --> 00:08:05.600
tell he's he's freaked out. I'm
freaked out, and we're not saying anything.
121
00:08:05.639 --> 00:08:09.680
We're just trying to get back to
his house. So we hit the
122
00:08:09.759 --> 00:08:13.920
tall road, finally get back to
his house. He jumps out of his
123
00:08:13.959 --> 00:08:16.040
truck man runs into his house.
Before I can get around his truck.
124
00:08:16.079 --> 00:08:20.519
He's in the house and lock the
door, and so I run up on
125
00:08:20.560 --> 00:08:24.120
his porch and I'm trying to get
in. I go to one of his
126
00:08:24.240 --> 00:08:28.560
windows and his windows were unlocked,
and so I was able to open the
127
00:08:28.560 --> 00:08:31.120
window and crawl through the window.
He wouldn't come to the door. And
128
00:08:31.159 --> 00:08:35.039
so that was back in the day
when people actually did leave their doors and
129
00:08:35.120 --> 00:08:39.960
windows unlocked. And we before we'd
go fish or hunh. We could put
130
00:08:41.000 --> 00:08:43.320
all of our stuff in the boat
and I don't have to worry about it.
131
00:08:43.360 --> 00:08:48.000
So that was early eighties. And
so anyway, all the commotion,
132
00:08:48.159 --> 00:08:52.240
I guess loc his dad up,
and his dad came in there, and
133
00:08:52.480 --> 00:08:56.799
we're both just free, not knowing
what to say. Man, this was
134
00:08:56.840 --> 00:09:01.200
just like something almost traumatizing would be
word for it. So his dad comes
135
00:09:01.200 --> 00:09:05.240
in there and what was going on? What happened? He finally calmed down
136
00:09:05.360 --> 00:09:09.679
enough and he started telling his dad
about what happened. And his dad had
137
00:09:09.759 --> 00:09:15.120
told us this story and that night. Later that night he told us a
138
00:09:15.200 --> 00:09:18.360
story that he had seen something.
That they had some pastors behind their house.
139
00:09:18.399 --> 00:09:20.960
They had a few, had a
cattle and that sort of thing.
140
00:09:22.320 --> 00:09:24.960
He had seen something behind his house
one morning, early in the morning,
141
00:09:24.960 --> 00:09:30.279
he said he saw something stocking some
deer back there, and he said he
142
00:09:30.320 --> 00:09:33.200
went to get his rifle to just
look through the scope and get a better
143
00:09:33.240 --> 00:09:35.639
look at what it was, and
before he could come back, the thing
144
00:09:35.720 --> 00:09:39.799
was gone. And so he said, man, you guys, that was
145
00:09:39.840 --> 00:09:45.120
probably a bigfoot. And I've heard
a bigfoot when I was a kid.
146
00:09:45.159 --> 00:09:48.120
We used to go up put to
those arcs around that area, and I
147
00:09:48.159 --> 00:09:52.559
guess bigfoot's kind of a bigger deal
up there. I knew about bigfoot.
148
00:09:52.600 --> 00:09:56.519
I've never heard any vocalizations of course, or anything like that, so I
149
00:09:56.600 --> 00:10:01.360
really didn't expect. I didn't know
what to expect. So he said,
150
00:10:01.399 --> 00:10:05.840
men, I'd seen something out there
a few years ago. I don't think
151
00:10:05.840 --> 00:10:07.919
he ever told Mark about it.
We stayed up the whole night, we
152
00:10:07.960 --> 00:10:13.120
didn't sleep, and we came out
the next morning and went out to Mark's
153
00:10:13.159 --> 00:10:16.480
truck and they had a big dent
in the side of it, right behind
154
00:10:18.320 --> 00:10:22.639
the passenger on the driver's side.
When Mark was said, there was a
155
00:10:22.759 --> 00:10:26.159
big dent in the back of his
truck. And I don't know, something
156
00:10:26.559 --> 00:10:30.440
through something at his truck and hit
the truck and made the dent, or
157
00:10:31.120 --> 00:10:33.879
something actually hit the truck with his
fist. I don't know how it got
158
00:10:33.919 --> 00:10:37.919
there. I just know that I'm
assuming that's what caused the truck to shutter.
159
00:10:39.399 --> 00:10:41.519
That's his baby, I guess you'd
say. And I took really care
160
00:10:41.559 --> 00:10:45.440
of it, so I knew what
the didn't wasn't there before we went out
161
00:10:45.519 --> 00:10:50.320
to the woods. So yeah,
it was just one of those things that
162
00:10:50.360 --> 00:10:56.279
you had never experienced before. And
I didn't see anything. I never saw
163
00:10:56.840 --> 00:11:00.720
what caused it. He didn't want
to really talk about it. He's one
164
00:11:00.720 --> 00:11:03.519
of those guys. I guess some
people are open to telling a story,
165
00:11:03.639 --> 00:11:09.519
and it's just the first time I've
really told it public forum in my life.
166
00:11:09.600 --> 00:11:13.519
So it just happened over forty years
ago. So but you know,
167
00:11:13.559 --> 00:11:16.480
I told my wife and stuff about
it through the years. I've asked Mark
168
00:11:16.559 --> 00:11:22.200
when he's basically just says, yeah, I remember that happened, and it's
169
00:11:22.200 --> 00:11:26.519
scared the shit out of me.
But other than that, he really didn't
170
00:11:26.519 --> 00:11:28.720
want to talk about it. So, yeah, this is really the first
171
00:11:28.759 --> 00:11:33.279
time I've shared that story. It
was just something that's never happened since it
172
00:11:33.519 --> 00:11:39.240
did keep me out of the woods
when I was the next couple of years,
173
00:11:39.519 --> 00:11:41.080
I would go into the woods,
but I wouldn't really. I was
174
00:11:41.759 --> 00:11:46.519
subconsciously, I guess, just didn't
want to get in that thick stuff like
175
00:11:46.600 --> 00:11:48.120
I did care free in the past. I was still go out there and
176
00:11:48.159 --> 00:11:52.720
squirrel hunts, but I was scared
to go out there. I had friends
177
00:11:52.720 --> 00:11:56.919
that would go out and coon hunt
at night, and they would run dogs
178
00:11:56.960 --> 00:12:01.080
and chase the coons and all that
stuff, and I just I didn't want
179
00:12:01.080 --> 00:12:05.320
to get out there at night again, even though I didn't really see anything,
180
00:12:05.679 --> 00:12:09.080
just hearing that. It took me
a couple two or three years to
181
00:12:09.120 --> 00:12:11.919
get back into the woods and mean
to actually go back out there and a
182
00:12:13.039 --> 00:12:16.039
coon hunt and deer hunt and that
sort of thing back in that thick stuff
183
00:12:16.720 --> 00:12:22.960
and never saw anything or heard anything
again that that was like that night.
184
00:12:22.120 --> 00:12:26.840
So of course, years later I
got married and I would tell my wife
185
00:12:26.879 --> 00:12:31.200
about it if I was hey.
This one time, me and Mark went
186
00:12:31.240 --> 00:12:33.240
back there in the woods over and
where you used to live in East Texas,
187
00:12:33.399 --> 00:12:37.879
and we heard something, and I
think, I guess she believed me.
188
00:12:37.919 --> 00:12:41.799
I was just one of those deals
we believe or you don't. And
189
00:12:43.000 --> 00:12:46.919
we were sitting there watching TV one
night, and I've always been fascinated by
190
00:12:46.200 --> 00:12:50.559
UFOs and ever since then kind of
bigfoot stuff, and so we were listening
191
00:12:50.559 --> 00:12:54.720
with one night, I just want
bigfoot Hunters or one of those shows like
192
00:12:54.759 --> 00:12:58.519
that. It was in that same
general area deep East Texas, right around
193
00:12:58.559 --> 00:13:03.159
the Sabine River. Were talking to
a lady that said that she had big
194
00:13:03.200 --> 00:13:07.720
foots around her house, and so
we were watching it and I described for
195
00:13:07.879 --> 00:13:11.360
my wife what it sounded like,
and so she said, do well,
196
00:13:11.519 --> 00:13:16.840
She told these guys, I've recorded
some vocalizations of what this bigfoot sounded like.
197
00:13:16.000 --> 00:13:20.320
I'd heard in other shows, the
whoops and the howls, but I
198
00:13:20.360 --> 00:13:26.799
had never heard the same screen,
never that same intensity, I guess.
199
00:13:28.159 --> 00:13:31.559
But when she played the recording,
the hair literally stood up on my arms
200
00:13:31.559 --> 00:13:33.039
in the back of my neck.
I looked at my wife and I said,
201
00:13:33.279 --> 00:13:37.039
that's what we heard. Just everything
came back that night when it was
202
00:13:37.840 --> 00:13:41.120
got kind of emotional body. It
was just like, okay, well,
203
00:13:41.480 --> 00:13:45.519
that kind of confirmed it for me. We had heard a big foot back
204
00:13:45.559 --> 00:13:50.960
there and back this logging road in
the middle of nowhere, and this lady
205
00:13:50.120 --> 00:13:54.840
apparently had heard the same thing and
recorded it and that sort of thing.
206
00:13:54.960 --> 00:13:58.720
So, like I said, it's
been forty years I've been back there and
207
00:13:58.960 --> 00:14:03.120
never anything has never happened like that
again. But that's what happened on a
208
00:14:03.159 --> 00:14:07.879
winter's night and back in nineteen eighty
three, that's wild. Do you know
209
00:14:07.919 --> 00:14:11.440
what else happened in a winter's night
in nineteen eighty three? I do not.
210
00:14:11.720 --> 00:14:18.840
I was born all right. Anyway, now you're making me feel oh
211
00:14:18.919 --> 00:14:22.799
so yeah, that area that you
experienced that, there's a lot of Bigfoot
212
00:14:22.840 --> 00:14:26.879
things that happen in that area of
East Texas. There's a really good book
213
00:14:26.919 --> 00:14:31.840
you can pick up called, I
believe it's just called Texas Bigfoot's by Lyle
214
00:14:31.919 --> 00:14:35.519
Blackburn, and it does go into
detail about Bigfoot in that area, I
215
00:14:35.559 --> 00:14:41.080
believe. But there was a part
where you were talking about how the scream
216
00:14:41.159 --> 00:14:48.279
you heard was really loud. You
describe in any way like how loud it?
217
00:14:48.279 --> 00:14:52.240
It seems like it was like you
felt it in your chest. I
218
00:14:52.279 --> 00:14:58.240
don't know, it was like being
in a movie theater, but three four
219
00:14:58.320 --> 00:15:01.440
or five times as loud as luck
as that's when the slashery movie started coming
220
00:15:01.480 --> 00:15:05.679
out, I guess Friday the thirteenth
and those sort of things, and so
221
00:15:07.039 --> 00:15:09.759
you would hear that audibly, but
you didn't feel it physically. And this
222
00:15:09.960 --> 00:15:18.799
was like if it's I would guess
maybe the thing was standing beside his window
223
00:15:18.840 --> 00:15:22.600
and just let out of Yeah,
it could have been. Like I said,
224
00:15:22.000 --> 00:15:26.519
we never saw it. I don't
know exactly where it came from.
225
00:15:26.559 --> 00:15:30.039
It felt like it came from his
side of the truck, and that's where
226
00:15:30.080 --> 00:15:33.240
the mark on the truck was,
or the den in the truck was on
227
00:15:33.320 --> 00:15:37.240
his side. So it was not
only something you hear audibly, but you
228
00:15:37.240 --> 00:15:43.120
could feel it in your chest.
Just the repercussion of it from the just
229
00:15:43.159 --> 00:15:48.480
the intensity of it was something I've
never heard before since. So, like
230
00:15:48.519 --> 00:15:52.240
I said, the best way I
could describe it is I thought that when
231
00:15:52.320 --> 00:15:56.200
I first heard it, it was
like, is he playing a prank on
232
00:15:56.279 --> 00:15:58.480
me? Out here? I see
you have one of his friends out here
233
00:15:58.639 --> 00:16:03.399
screaming, But it just it didn't
make sense. And then to have the
234
00:16:03.840 --> 00:16:07.799
big dent in the strict I know
he wouldn't have gone to that extreme to
235
00:16:07.840 --> 00:16:11.039
try to scare me, to put
a dent inside of his truck. So
236
00:16:11.679 --> 00:16:15.240
after I've told the story, people
said, you just heard a black panther
237
00:16:15.559 --> 00:16:18.720
or something like that in the woods, And to just all the I guess
238
00:16:18.759 --> 00:16:23.679
explanations that people gave just didn't make
sense to me, because why one,
239
00:16:23.879 --> 00:16:26.960
if you're going through the woods,
if you have the radio on the high
240
00:16:26.960 --> 00:16:30.159
beams on the truck. You're making
a bunch of noise coming back through this
241
00:16:30.519 --> 00:16:34.039
on this logging road. You're going
to scare everything off. It's within a
242
00:16:34.120 --> 00:16:38.519
mile and a half of that area. You know, this thing had no
243
00:16:38.799 --> 00:16:44.200
truck of the noise were I'm making
just like like I said, it was
244
00:16:44.600 --> 00:16:47.639
something that we just heard over the
Like I said, when we were talking
245
00:16:47.639 --> 00:16:51.320
back, we couldn't talk back and
forth overready. You had to yell back
246
00:16:51.360 --> 00:16:55.320
and forth to hear yourself even or
try to hear him over the radio.
247
00:16:55.480 --> 00:16:59.840
And this thing was audible over the
noise inside the cabin of the truck,
248
00:17:00.080 --> 00:17:03.319
could hear it from outside, And
then like once he cut that radio off,
249
00:17:03.440 --> 00:17:10.400
it was it was just an overwhelming
loud screen. You said that when
250
00:17:10.440 --> 00:17:12.640
you heard the scream it felt like
you could feel in your chest. Did
251
00:17:12.720 --> 00:17:18.839
it affect you emotionally in any way
that you remember thinking about it? Not
252
00:17:19.279 --> 00:17:23.119
so much at the time of that
night. Yes, But like I said,
253
00:17:23.119 --> 00:17:27.839
I didn't I couldn't explain what it
was, and we never saw it,
254
00:17:29.119 --> 00:17:33.960
so I just knew that it was
something that wasn't normal. I'd spent
255
00:17:33.319 --> 00:17:37.920
hundreds, if not thousands of hours
out in the woods, and I'd never
256
00:17:38.000 --> 00:17:41.559
heard anything like that off in the
distance. I'd never heard anything like that
257
00:17:41.680 --> 00:17:48.759
up close. I never knew anything
could make that loud of a sound out
258
00:17:48.960 --> 00:17:52.000
out in the woods. And like
I said, it took me. I
259
00:17:52.000 --> 00:17:55.079
guess, I guess on a subconscious
level, it did. At fact me,
260
00:17:55.200 --> 00:17:57.400
like I said, I really couldn't
go back in the woods, or
261
00:17:57.519 --> 00:18:00.559
didn't go back in the woods for
a couple of years. I spent more
262
00:18:00.599 --> 00:18:06.039
time fishing and duck hunting and stuff
were more open. Well, I didn't
263
00:18:06.079 --> 00:18:10.079
have to go back into that thick
stuff. It took me a while before
264
00:18:10.079 --> 00:18:12.640
I've got the nerve to hunt at
night again. Even I used to go
265
00:18:12.720 --> 00:18:17.759
out and shoot rabbits. I'd go
out in the fields behind our house and
266
00:18:17.920 --> 00:18:21.200
have a shotgun and I'd go out
there and hunt rabbits at night and that
267
00:18:21.319 --> 00:18:23.359
sort of thing, to spot lighting
them, and man, after that,
268
00:18:25.200 --> 00:18:27.240
I would I still went out in
the woods, you know, I worked
269
00:18:27.279 --> 00:18:30.079
up the nerve to go out there
at night, but I made sure that
270
00:18:30.160 --> 00:18:37.039
I had a couple of shotgun slugs
with me in my pocket when I was
271
00:18:37.079 --> 00:18:40.720
out there. It had the sick
shot or whatever seven and half to shoot
272
00:18:40.759 --> 00:18:44.119
the rabbits with. But I made
sure that I always had some slugs or
273
00:18:44.200 --> 00:18:48.480
some buckshot in my pocket because I
guess it was back there in the back
274
00:18:48.519 --> 00:18:51.720
of my mind, something's out there
in the woods of East Texas and it
275
00:18:51.759 --> 00:18:55.559
doesn't want you out there. Like
I said, it only happened one time,
276
00:18:55.599 --> 00:19:00.880
but it made an impression them.
Any looking to that area where you
277
00:19:02.000 --> 00:19:06.880
had that situation and see if anyone
else has had any weird things happen in
278
00:19:06.880 --> 00:19:12.000
that area. No, I really
didn't. It's such as those really small
279
00:19:12.000 --> 00:19:18.319
communities out there, So he didn't
really talk about Mark, my brother in
280
00:19:18.400 --> 00:19:21.319
law, now, he didn't really
talk about it. Like I said,
281
00:19:21.319 --> 00:19:26.599
his dad had seen something. His
dad really never talked about it. So
282
00:19:26.920 --> 00:19:29.759
I followed their lead. I guess, like I said, I told my
283
00:19:29.880 --> 00:19:32.799
parents about it. When I got
married, I told my wife about it.
284
00:19:33.400 --> 00:19:37.079
But as far as going back,
I have been back to that area
285
00:19:37.839 --> 00:19:42.519
since then. I've never I know
exactly where he took as like a small
286
00:19:42.559 --> 00:19:48.799
town, so I just never really
wanted to go back to the exact spot.
287
00:19:49.279 --> 00:19:52.359
I don't know if he could still
get back there. Day. The
288
00:19:52.359 --> 00:19:56.000
trades has been pretty good while now
I guess that's grown up, but been
289
00:19:56.039 --> 00:20:02.519
on other logging roads and stuff,
just hunting and stuff us And when I
290
00:20:02.559 --> 00:20:07.920
started going over the story in my
mind, but I really never thought about
291
00:20:07.960 --> 00:20:12.759
it a whole lot in the years
recently. But it made sense that something,
292
00:20:14.680 --> 00:20:18.039
if predator is in the woods in
East Texas, they would be hanging
293
00:20:18.079 --> 00:20:22.039
out along with logging roads and that
sort of a natural ambush area. I
294
00:20:22.039 --> 00:20:26.880
would have logging roads when I was
a kid. There'd be brush piles and
295
00:20:26.920 --> 00:20:29.319
stuff on the side of these logging
roads, and a lot of times,
296
00:20:29.319 --> 00:20:32.319
you know, you could jump on
the brush pile and the rabbit run out.
297
00:20:32.440 --> 00:20:36.680
Or one time I walked my big
brush pile and there some hogs in
298
00:20:36.759 --> 00:20:41.119
the brush piles. So I could
see where a logging road would be an
299
00:20:41.319 --> 00:20:45.279
ideal ambush spot. I guess if
there is something out there in the woods
300
00:20:45.319 --> 00:20:52.400
for something that big in that same
area growing up in there were there any
301
00:20:52.440 --> 00:21:00.079
other reports of strange things, not
necessarily Bigfoot related or anything else weird that
302
00:21:00.200 --> 00:21:06.400
what happened over the years in the
same area. Well, my dad told
303
00:21:06.400 --> 00:21:10.839
me a story one time, he's
a tournament fish on Raven and Salida Ben
304
00:21:11.240 --> 00:21:15.400
when we were living in Houston time. Another I was probably three or four
305
00:21:15.480 --> 00:21:21.920
or five years old. He said
he was coming back from a fishing tournament.
306
00:21:22.200 --> 00:21:23.519
Like I said, they that fished
on I guess I think it was
307
00:21:23.640 --> 00:21:29.039
Raperl that fished on Rayburn. And
this was back in the early seventies that
308
00:21:29.119 --> 00:21:32.920
this happened to him. So it
was him and another guy, and they
309
00:21:33.160 --> 00:21:36.960
teamed up and they were following each
other pulling the boats coming and they were
310
00:21:37.000 --> 00:21:41.920
coming through Conroe, which is still
East Texas. It's not deep East Texas
311
00:21:41.960 --> 00:21:45.720
because that area run Newton Jeffrey.
They call that the big thickets. Now
312
00:21:45.839 --> 00:21:48.160
it really thick with it thins out
when you get deep out of that area
313
00:21:48.160 --> 00:21:51.920
a little bit. And he was
coming through. He told me the story.
314
00:21:51.920 --> 00:21:56.119
He was coming through Conroe and it
had already got dark, and they
315
00:21:56.559 --> 00:22:00.359
saw something in the woods and he
said he thought the woods were so him
316
00:22:00.400 --> 00:22:06.000
and this other guy pulled over and
they were looking at it, and he
317
00:22:06.039 --> 00:22:11.079
said, I thought it was just
force fire, and so they stopped and
318
00:22:11.200 --> 00:22:14.480
got out and we're looking at way
he did the way he described it.
319
00:22:14.480 --> 00:22:18.119
Had been sitting there looking at for
a couple of minutes and something he said,
320
00:22:18.160 --> 00:22:23.160
well, he said, what looked
like a saucer, lifted up out
321
00:22:23.160 --> 00:22:29.160
of the woods, got the tree
top level and was gone in a second.
322
00:22:29.759 --> 00:22:33.359
He'd never really told me that story
before until I shared my story with
323
00:22:33.440 --> 00:22:38.400
Mark, and so yeah, he
had he saw something over there close to
324
00:22:38.599 --> 00:22:45.720
Conrad, which is probably an hour
away from the area where I saw or
325
00:22:45.839 --> 00:22:48.720
heard. We never saw anything,
but we heard the vocalization of what I
326
00:22:48.799 --> 00:22:55.480
believe was probably a bigfoot. My
wife has actually seen a UFO. Who
327
00:22:55.880 --> 00:23:02.079
grew up in Pasadena, heavily populated
area in passage. She was outside with
328
00:23:02.160 --> 00:23:07.880
one of her girlfriends and their kids
and her girlfriend's kids, and she said
329
00:23:07.880 --> 00:23:12.279
she looked up and there was something
that was coming over her house, no
330
00:23:12.279 --> 00:23:17.400
noise. She said, the thing
was huge. I tried to press her
331
00:23:17.440 --> 00:23:19.920
on dimensions and stuff. You know, she's not real good with that sort
332
00:23:19.960 --> 00:23:26.000
of thing. So she just described
it as probably as wide as a football
333
00:23:26.039 --> 00:23:30.720
field and a chevron shaped is what
she called it. And nothing, nothing
334
00:23:32.440 --> 00:23:37.200
happened. I just watched the sing
as it glided over her friend's house and
335
00:23:37.240 --> 00:23:40.000
then out of sight, and that
was the end of it. She was
336
00:23:40.240 --> 00:23:42.200
just her friend ran inside with her
kids, and my wife stay out there
337
00:23:42.240 --> 00:23:47.960
and watched the thing fly by,
So I've never seen anything like that.
338
00:23:47.680 --> 00:23:51.720
I, like I said, I've
never heard another vocalization. That was really
339
00:23:52.000 --> 00:23:57.839
the only thing that happened to me. The whole area of East and southeast
340
00:23:57.880 --> 00:24:03.359
Texas, there's some weird stuff that
goes on, for sure, the area
341
00:24:03.640 --> 00:24:11.799
of around Newton where your account takes
place. What do most people think that
342
00:24:11.960 --> 00:24:17.920
they're dealing with when they think a
bigfoot down there? If you've been able
343
00:24:17.960 --> 00:24:22.160
to talk to other people about it
as well, I really didn't. I've
344
00:24:22.200 --> 00:24:29.400
never His dad was really the only
one that had shared anything about bigfoot.
345
00:24:29.519 --> 00:24:33.279
We lived there, probably it wasn't
a long time that we lived there,
346
00:24:33.279 --> 00:24:38.759
probably from the time I was thirteen
twelve thirteen to time I was about sixteen.
347
00:24:40.559 --> 00:24:42.720
We ended up moving. Like I
said, my dad was a pipeline
348
00:24:42.720 --> 00:24:49.519
welder, so we ended up moving
to the Lagrange area, so we moved
349
00:24:49.519 --> 00:24:55.039
out of that area. But we
had lived in Northeast Texas and like I
350
00:24:55.039 --> 00:24:57.960
said, deep East Texas from the
time I was about four years old until
351
00:24:59.000 --> 00:25:03.119
I was probably sixteen. And I
said this happened when I was I guess,
352
00:25:03.200 --> 00:25:04.599
I said middle school. I was
seventh eighth grade, so I guess
353
00:25:04.599 --> 00:25:10.119
I was twelve thirteen, so I
didn't know what it was. I didn't
354
00:25:10.119 --> 00:25:15.519
really know to ask or think to
ask anybody have you seen a bigfoot or
355
00:25:15.720 --> 00:25:18.839
heard a bigfoot or anything like that, because so unusual that And like I
356
00:25:18.920 --> 00:25:23.680
said, his dad shared his story
with us that he had seen something really
357
00:25:23.720 --> 00:25:27.319
big and hairy and black. But
it was early in the morning. It
358
00:25:27.440 --> 00:25:33.839
was the back of his very back
of his farm land back there probably I
359
00:25:33.880 --> 00:25:37.200
would guess, three hundred yards away
from his actual house, so he never
360
00:25:37.279 --> 00:25:41.680
really got a good look at it. I guess in his mind that was
361
00:25:41.079 --> 00:25:44.759
probably what it was, a bigfoot, And that's how I described it to
362
00:25:44.839 --> 00:25:48.039
us, was just a big,
hairy, black creature. I know that
363
00:25:48.079 --> 00:25:52.519
some people have said there are black
bear in that area. I'd never seen
364
00:25:52.519 --> 00:25:56.519
a black bear. I've never seen
any scat from black bear. People always
365
00:25:56.519 --> 00:26:02.319
talking about in a lot of people
that I have come across, and hey,
366
00:26:02.599 --> 00:26:04.519
while you never find any bones of
this thing, while you never see
367
00:26:04.559 --> 00:26:10.000
any tracks of this thing. And
I'll say to that, I say,
368
00:26:10.319 --> 00:26:12.440
I really never found a lot of
bones of anything out in the woods.
369
00:26:12.599 --> 00:26:18.759
Occasionally I would come across some deer
bones because there was a hunting lease that
370
00:26:18.880 --> 00:26:26.000
was behind my house. That was
probably went back about ten or twelve miles
371
00:26:26.039 --> 00:26:29.680
back there, and I guess occasionally
somebod would shoot one it run off and
372
00:26:29.759 --> 00:26:33.559
die. And so I found deer
bones. I found a couple of times
373
00:26:33.559 --> 00:26:37.400
I found just a little small whatever
it was, I couldn't really tell,
374
00:26:37.920 --> 00:26:42.720
just small bones. But as far
as seeing anything else, I know bobcat
375
00:26:42.799 --> 00:26:47.319
lived back there. There's been,
like I said, people saying that panther
376
00:26:47.559 --> 00:26:51.640
and that sort of thing. I
never saw a bobcat or a panther either,
377
00:26:51.759 --> 00:26:56.039
So to not believe that something as
big as the Bigfoot could live back
378
00:26:56.079 --> 00:27:00.640
there, I just it doesn't make
sense to me that something if something like
379
00:27:00.720 --> 00:27:06.119
as common as as a bobcat,
and I've never seen one in the wild,
380
00:27:06.160 --> 00:27:08.559
out in the woods, could be
back think of there. Why couldn't
381
00:27:08.640 --> 00:27:12.480
something bigger be hiding out in the
thicker part of the woods. And I
382
00:27:12.519 --> 00:27:15.079
always tell people, And then when
they questioned me about it, I said,
383
00:27:15.279 --> 00:27:19.000
you don't find bigfoot, Bigfoot find
you. And that's where I left
384
00:27:19.000 --> 00:27:22.200
it off. And I do tell
people. People asked me where I grew
385
00:27:22.279 --> 00:27:26.759
up, and for the most part, it was East Texas and deep East
386
00:27:26.759 --> 00:27:29.680
Texas, and I said, Hey, if there is such a thing as
387
00:27:29.720 --> 00:27:33.559
Bigfoot, that's where he'd be.
And not too long ago, one of
388
00:27:33.599 --> 00:27:37.440
the guys at work, I'd taken
a customer home. I buy cars over
389
00:27:37.480 --> 00:27:40.680
here in San Antonio now, and
one of the guys at work was at
390
00:27:40.759 --> 00:27:44.640
history ride with me. And after
we dropped the guy off, he bsing
391
00:27:44.759 --> 00:27:47.200
back and forth, you know where, you know, he had asked me
392
00:27:47.240 --> 00:27:48.720
where I lived, and you know, I told him I lived in East
393
00:27:48.759 --> 00:27:52.599
Texas. And I said, man, if there was such a big thing
394
00:27:52.599 --> 00:27:53.839
as Bigfoot, you know, that's
where one would live. I think,
395
00:27:53.880 --> 00:27:56.359
you know. He said, it's
funny you say that, John. He
396
00:27:56.359 --> 00:28:00.440
said, I used to sell cars, you know, in Northeast Texas.
397
00:28:00.640 --> 00:28:03.599
And he said he told me a
story. He said, I was coming
398
00:28:03.640 --> 00:28:07.039
home one night. I was driving
down Farm the Market Road. I come
399
00:28:07.119 --> 00:28:11.480
around the curb and my headlights hit
something on the side of the road and
400
00:28:12.559 --> 00:28:18.839
it was eight nine foot tall and
covered with black fur, black reddish fur.
401
00:28:18.599 --> 00:28:22.200
And I mean, it wasn't a
whole lot to the store. He
402
00:28:22.279 --> 00:28:26.000
just said he saw it, he
recognized what he thought it was. And
403
00:28:26.319 --> 00:28:29.440
I pressed him a little bit on
it, and I said, well,
404
00:28:29.480 --> 00:28:30.440
what happened. What did it do? And I said, well, it
405
00:28:30.599 --> 00:28:33.160
just stood there when I drove by
it, I said, well, how
406
00:28:33.160 --> 00:28:37.000
close were you? He said,
well, I was close enough to it
407
00:28:37.039 --> 00:28:40.279
that if it would have reached out, it could have hit my car as
408
00:28:40.279 --> 00:28:44.200
it was going by. So he
got a pretty good look at whatever it
409
00:28:44.400 --> 00:28:48.759
was. And it just like the
same kind of deal with me. And
410
00:28:48.759 --> 00:28:51.160
he said, the first time,
last time, the first time I ever
411
00:28:51.160 --> 00:28:52.759
saw anything like that, and I've
never seen anything like it again. It
412
00:28:52.839 --> 00:29:00.640
was just one night in the middle
of nowhere and it just happened. It's
413
00:29:00.680 --> 00:29:03.640
one of those fascinating stories where you
know you didn't have a visual but it's
414
00:29:03.880 --> 00:29:11.799
just enough to jog the memory of
people that listen to this. And you
415
00:29:11.839 --> 00:29:15.400
know, I'm sure I will hear
from quite a few people that are like,
416
00:29:15.480 --> 00:29:18.240
you know, I've seen stuff in
the same area of East Texas,
417
00:29:18.319 --> 00:29:25.880
So I do like accounts like this
for sure. But John, I definitely
418
00:29:25.880 --> 00:29:30.359
want to thank you for coming on
the show, for reaching out and sharing
419
00:29:30.400 --> 00:29:36.839
what you experienced with me about forty
years ago down in deep East Texas.
420
00:29:36.920 --> 00:29:40.119
Well, Jeremy, I appreciate I
appreciate the time. Like I said,
421
00:29:40.160 --> 00:29:44.400
this is the first time I've really
told the story and really even thought about
422
00:29:44.440 --> 00:29:47.759
it and as much depth as I
had revisited it, so to speak.
423
00:29:48.279 --> 00:29:51.319
And in some ways, I guess
I'm glad that I didn't see it.
424
00:29:51.480 --> 00:29:53.839
If I would have seen it,
I don't know if I ever would have
425
00:29:53.839 --> 00:29:57.880
gone back in the woods and been
able to go back there, and certainly
426
00:29:57.920 --> 00:30:00.799
not at n It was, like
I said, it was always been in
427
00:30:00.839 --> 00:30:06.559
the back of my mind, something
unusual happened to us, But it wasn't
428
00:30:06.640 --> 00:30:11.640
until we saw that show on TV
that really sank in that this was not
429
00:30:11.920 --> 00:30:15.119
this Probably it probably was a big
foot. It's just like I said,
430
00:30:17.480 --> 00:30:22.880
it just it was just a normal
night. We just had gone down this
431
00:30:22.920 --> 00:30:26.559
old log road and we get off
the main roads. You wanted to drink
432
00:30:26.559 --> 00:30:30.279
a few beers. We're just sitting
there, bullshitting, going back and forth,
433
00:30:30.359 --> 00:30:36.640
and it just happened. You can't
explain any better than that. And
434
00:30:36.680 --> 00:30:41.079
then that's usually how it is.
There's no way to be prepared for.
435
00:30:41.160 --> 00:30:45.119
It usually just happens, and it's
wild. I love talking to people about
436
00:30:45.480 --> 00:30:48.240
what they've seen or what they experienced, what they heard. It makes my
437
00:30:48.359 --> 00:30:52.880
day so thank you so much.
For coming on, John. I'm sure
438
00:30:52.960 --> 00:30:56.720
your account will will help some listeners
that are listening out there for sure.
439
00:30:59.519 --> 00:31:02.200
Like I said, thank you very
much, Jeremiah. I appreciate you allow
440
00:31:02.279 --> 00:31:04.759
me the time to share the story
and like I said, recount it in
441
00:31:04.839 --> 00:31:07.839
my own mind, just relive it. I guess you'd say, I hadn't
442
00:31:07.839 --> 00:31:11.839
really thought about it in a long
time. So thank you, and I
443
00:31:11.880 --> 00:31:18.799
hope this helps somebody maybe struggling to
figure out what they heard or saw or
444
00:31:18.839 --> 00:31:22.559
whatever, and there's something was out
there I don't, Like I said,
445
00:31:22.599 --> 00:31:26.799
I never saw it, heard it
and it's scared to crap outs. Yes,
