Terrified in an Oregon Cabin: Bigfoot Left a Giant Handprint at My Door | Estacada Encounter
Alone in an unfinished cabin near Estacada, Oregon, Danny, from Episode 1071, expected a quiet night in the woods. What he got was pounding footsteps that shook the structure, a frantic dog in the darkness, breathing at the open doorway, and a massive oily handprint waiting on the glass by sunrise.
In this intense Bigfoot Society episode, Danny shares a firsthand 2006 encounter from one of the most active Sasquatch regions in the Pacific Northwest. Remote property, freezing rain, deep forest silence, and something enormous moving just outside the walls.
If you want real encounters, unforgettable detail, and a story that pulls you straight into the night, this is an episode you need to hear.

0:00 You're listening to bigflet Society and I'm Jeremiah Byron. In this show, we go beyond the campfire stories to bring you first hand encounters from people who say they've seen something impossible. From backwoods trails and remote mountain haulers to quiet farms and crowded highways. The stories come from everywhere, and each one leaves us with more questions than answers. These are the voices of the people who've lived it. To settle in, because today you'll hear another account that just might change the way you see the woods forever. So stay with us, all right, Welcome back to another episode of the Big Foot Society Podcasts. We've got the privilege of having Danny back on. You may remember Danny back from a few episodes ago, and he shared his face to face encounter up there from Schamania County in Washington, and he had alluded to having another story of something that happened down in Oregon. So we were able to set up a time Danny was able to time on his calendar, and we're glad to have you back on. Danny.
1:03 How are you today, I'm doing wonderful. Thanks for having me back on Jeremiah. Absolutely. This area that we are looking at, the Esta Caada, Oregon area, is extremely active and people might be aware of it if they listen to the show. It's come up before, but I mean, my goodness, and it's an area where I just went to last July of twenty twenty five. I just released a almost hour and a half video of myself going out with a local researcher, Frank Canister. So if you want to see what the woods look like around Esta Kada, you can go to the Big for Society YouTube channel. You can check that out.
1:46 And rest in peace, Frank. He's he's very much missed as well. He just passed away end of twenty twenty five. But we are. We're here today to hear about what Yanny experienced and esticate us. I'm very interested to hear about your experience, Danny. But is there anything else that the listeners might need to know about you before we get on into it. No, I've said everything the first time, just to bring anybody up to speed. I'm retired out of the military after twenty one years of service. I'm just hanging out and enjoying life in the civilian world now in a whole different sector. And now I have some downtime to tell some stories and to reflect on what life was like much before the military and in the early days of my first ten years of the military, which are when all these stories happened. So it's kind of nice to be able to go back in time, sort of like going back to the future and digging into the meat and potatoes of a lot of things that happened to me in my life when I was younger. Men.
2:59 Absolutely, of course, as we always wanted to point out, of course, thank you for your service, Danny over those many years is much much appreciated. But you feel free to take us back to when you were in Esticada and you experience something out of the ordinary, and feel free to take us back to what happened that day. Absolutely, So we'll start off. I had a friend, he's still my friend of this day. And I'll say his name is full name, because anybody who's in Esticada or the Sandy area of Boring or any of those areas down there will know who this guy is. Anyway, So I have a really good friend. His name is Chris.
3:44 There and Esticada with his wife Jennifer and his two boys, when this happened, he didn't have his second son. He only had his first son. So that's how far back it was. Anyhow, So this happened in two thousand and three, days before Halloween. It was on the twenty eighth, I remember very, very vividly. It was. It was late October, just before Halloween, and I got a call from Chris. I happened to be around town. I wasn't far off. I wasn't in the I was in the military at that time, but I happened to be on a leave, so I was actually home for a couple of weeks, and I got a call from Chris, and he has a project that he was doing because he has his own company. He was going to be building this little small house much like a like a one bedroom cabin, because that's basically what it was that we were building.
4:44 And he wanted me to come and help him get this build done before it got way too cold and way too crappy out there in Stacada to continue the build for the winter time. So I said, yeah, of course, man, I'd love to, you know, even for a couple of days. I'd love to get out there, get out in nature and help you build this this little house. So I ended up going out to Stakeaida. I stayed with with Chris and his wife and his youngest son, and we ended up going up to a place way up by a little tiny fire station way up there and at the top of I can't even remember the exact area is southeast, south, southeast something like that, way up there, he was going to be building this little, this little house.
5:35 And so we get up there and I get the whole the whole layout of what's going on. Anyways, at this at this one property, there was a husband and a wife and they lived out there and they their father. They didn't he was getting to the age where it was, you know, it was time for the family to start thinking, do we what are we going to do? Do we take care of our father or do we, you know, put him into our retirement home. What do we do? So they didn't want to do that. They wanted to bring the father up there, but they didn't have room in their own home because they had three children of their own and it was a pretty small home and so that's five people. So they what they did is they had Chris, who they knew as well, who I knew.
6:23 They called Chris and said, hey, what's it going to take to you know, build a little house and get this thing up and running as fast as we can so I can get my dad out here to live out here instead of throwing him into a retirement home. So that's that's what ended up happening. So right behind there was a little patch of ground that they bulldozed. They made a little road with the bulldozer, and then they flattened out this area probably I don't know, I'd say maybe thirty or forty yards behind the house. And on this flattened out like plateau area, there was a street that ran right in front of it. It wasn't anything big, but it had trout and things in it, so I mean it was inhabited by fish. And I don't know the name of the creek or anything, but there's definitively there was a creek there, and so we had to put a colvert and everything and put this big giant storm pipe into the middle of the creek so we could make the road that goes through the creek over the creek and onto this plateaued bulldozed area behind the house, so that that was already done like when I got there that that was already done by them.
7:36 All all our job was to do was to actually construct this house. So we had we had to put this this little house. It was on stilts, and I don't mean like stilts like you know, six feet high, but it was on stilts probably I don't know, maybe maybe two feet high maximum, probably up to your knees. And the only reason why it was on stilts is because in the winter time the creek flooded because it rains a lot in Esticada, and so the water level would rise, and it was the thought wasn't to just have the uh the house there to to be in Noah Noah's Arc kind of deal where every everything flooded, you get stuck in your house and you're on stilts, but you're not, you know, flooded. It was just a precaution just in case the creek flooded so much that there wouldn't be any kind of structural damage to the to the house anyhow. So we had Oh and I do want to say also the foundational part of this was already done. This was already done. Chris had already put the stilts, the foundation, the septic tank, in the into the ground, the the entire floor, the green plate, the the two by fours, the framing, everything was already done.
8:59 What I had done with Chris when I got there is I had helped put up the the there's there's this like particle board that you put on houses, or I guess you would say cheap houses, but it's called T one eleven. So we put the T one eleven on as as the walls right on the framing, and then we put on the gables and everything for the roof, and had a metal roof and everything on there as well. And so we we were doing all that, We were doing all the finishing touches on the T one eleven and in some notching up and just just some blocking and all that stuff on the on the framing, there was no insulation, there was no sheet rock. There was no elect well, no, I take that back. There was electricity during the day on a generator, but then after that there wasn't because it wasn't hooked up just yet.
9:57 So there was no running water, there was no toilet, there was no have to have, no shower, no nothing. It was a completely empty, basically a dry cabin. But it was all done. Everything was completely done. We managed to get everything done during during the day, just doing that T one to eleven doing the metal roof and uh, I think we did something with a sliding glass door, because there was one of those in there. But I'll lead up to that as well. Anyways, I had when I went up there, I had already talked to Chris and I said, listen, you know, when I go up there, like, I'm just gonna stay and I'm going to camp out in in the uh in this little house for the night.
10:37 I'm just gonna do that. You know, I'm already on leave. I'm having a good time. I don't want to just leave. I'll just stay here. I'll sleep in the dry cabin, and then the next morning you'll come and we'll start working, and then I'll already be here. I don't even have to go back down to your house, take a shower, nothing. I just for me. It was just more convenient and easier that way. So what I ended up doing when I initially went up there, I brought a sleeping bag with me. I brought a bunch of not a bunch, but enough food to sustain myself for twenty four hours. And then I didn't need to worry about hooking any electricity or anything up because I had some battery lanterns, and as far as food and water and bathroom and things went, none of that mattered because I could go to which was like forty yards away. If I wanted to heat up some food or use the toilet or take a shower or whatever, I could have just gone over there, which I did as well before I went to sleep in the cabin. But we'll lead up to that as well. So night's falling and Chris is getting ready to take off. Well, you know, we're talking talking, you know, details about the cabin, what was done, showed them, you know, everything that was done. And at that point I just I said, he said, yeah, I'm just gonna stay here and I got some food and some water, and you know, if I need to use the toilet or something, I said, okay, if I just come to your house, knock on the door and do that, like yeah, no problem whatever. So that was already established. Chris had
12:08 ended up taking off. He got into his duly truck and took off to the mountain and said, yeah, I'll see you tomorrow. I said, yeah, find and dandy whatever, and I'll see you tomorrow. We'll get to work. And that was that. So now what is happening is, yeah, I set up my little, my little camp inside the inside the t went eleven and the little house that we had finished up. And to give an idea of like what this what it looked like. So imagine like a twenty by twenty and that was it. And imagine on one side there was just there was one of those old, like nineteen eighties trailer park glass sliding doors that I think all of us remember from the eighties.
12:57 That was that was the front door. I had a little a little staircase that went up to that big glass sliding door, and that's how you got in to the front of the twenty by twenty. Now imagine the opposite side it had a big glass window. And then on the other side, which would be the wall facing the glass door, that had just one little box window and that's where the little kitchen area was going to be. Now we get to the back. Now there was a there was a back door also on it, and that was a way out of the cabin as well. Now where this was this was the actual room where their dad was going to be staying at and this is where I was at. And that's why they had the back door because it's faster access. If you wanted to get out of the house, you needed to get out of the house and hurry, you could go that way.
13:59 So luckily this door actually was locking and everything, and you could lock it and it would stay shut as well. Now, the sliding glass door it was in, but I don't there was something wrong with it. I can't remember what it was, but it was. We had it in in the the position of open. Always for some reason, it wouldn't like slide shut. I don't know why. I can't remember what the problem was. It got resolved, but there was a problem with the door and it didn't shut. So the sliding glass door was opened the entire time. And that'll come into the story later as well. And so in this room where the back door is, there was there was nothing. It was just it was it was literally the floor the t one to eleven walls and then the ceiling and there, like I said, there was no insulation, There was no sheet rock there, there was absolutely nothing. It was a shell. And that's where I laid my sleeping bag down and I had the sleeping bag or just right right on the wall. Quite literally, it was basically touching the wall of where the uh the the uh the T one eleven was and now there was just on this wall as well, there was a little window. It was one of those little I don't even know how to describe it. It wasn't a block window. It's probably one of those ones that you would see on a trailer or a camper, the ones
15:32 where you could you can open them up. You put your finger on like this little tab and then you push it in and you pull and the window will open and you'll close, like like if you're opening up a prison cell door something to look in and see if the guys, and then then you shut it. It was something like that, this little, little, small, small window. But I don't know why it was there, but it was there, and and that will come into the story as well. So nights coming everything, it's getting colder, much much colder at that point, Like I started, I underestimated it because I didn't think it was going to be that cold, But then again, we're way up in Esticada and temperatures drop and it was it was raining as well.
16:16 I didn't say that initially because during the daytime it wasn't but as evening came, it was pouring down rain and it was cold and it was freezing. And I remember sitting in there with my little lanterns, and it must have been about nine o'clock or so, where you know, I wasn't actually tired, but I just I thought to myself, and keep in mind, this is two thousand and six. There's no cell phones, there's no laptops, there's no none of this cool stuff, you know. So I'm sitting there and I just decided, you know what, there's literally nothing to do. Nothing I can do. They're back at the house. I'm here by myself, and I've got nothing to do.
17:00 So I'm just going to go to sleep. That's That's just what I'm gonna do. So I get into my sleeping bag, I zip it up, I literally go inside of it because it was it was really really cold. I was in my clothes still, I didn't take anything off, same socks, I took my shoes off, obviously, had my jacket on everything because it was pretty cold. And I got inside and now it's just like a mummy. Now at some point, I don't know when, because I didn't have any idea of the time either because I didn't have a watch, I didn't have a clock. All that I knew was that I was going to be going to work the next morning. So at some point, like I said, I dozed off. I fell asleep, and I don't know how how many hours I was asleep for.
17:50 I don't know what time it was when I woke up, but I did wake up, and so whatever time it was that I woke up, the first thing before I woke up, To put this in the context, when I was asleep, I was laying on my stomach, because when I woke up, I was on my stomach and my head was turned to the left, so that means my right ear would literally have been on the floor, and just right below the floor would have been dirt and everything, because that was the ground about two feet down because it was on stilts. So I woke up just like that, on my stomach with my ear pressed to the floor in the sleeping bag, and I didn't know what time it was. But the reason I woke up it wasn't because I woke up naturally, is because I heard this dog like barking. I heard a dog barking, and ila there, and I was thinking to myself, I'm like, whose dog is barking? There's no dogs out here. I didn't see a dog. I didn't hear a dog. There's only a couple houses out here, and I don't think they have dogs.
19:00 Don't have dogs. But there's a dog barking. And I'm just laying there and I'm listening, and I can hear the dog, and I've already like pinned it where the barking was. It was It was behind me. So what that meant was that it was out that back door that I described and somewhere just into the forest, up up into the forest somewhere, have no idea, but that's where the barking was coming from. And so I'm listening, and I'm noticing that the barking it's getting louder and louder and louder, and I'm thinking, like, where is that coming from? But it's just suggesting to me that the dog must be coming closer, must becoming my direction. Somewhere in my direction, maybe not like dead reckoning to me, but somewhere really really close where I can hear the dog is getting closer and so I'm just I'm listening.
19:56 It's still pouring down rain, and I'm hearing this dog. It's getting louder and louder and louder and louder and louder, this barking, barking, barking, barking. But while this is happening and I'm laying on the floor, remember, I start feeling these vibrations like through the floor cook Like the dog is barking, but as it's barking, I felt vibrations of quite literally like it like vibrations of running like two legs, like boom boom boom boom boom boom, And it was vibrating, and it was getting like, not louder, but the percussion of it was shaking this cabin more and more and more and more. And this dog was barking and barking and barking, and all of a sudden, it just the barking just stopped. It just stopped. But the vibrations they continued for like another two seconds, maybe three seconds, And I was thinking to myself, I was like, what in that?
21:03 That's what I was thinking, Because the vibrations they were so profound and so strong that I could feel everything through my body, through the floor of this cabin, and then all of a sudden, it just stopped. Like the whole like the entire cabin was shaking, like quite literally like and that's not an exaggeration. I as it was happening, I could feel all the trusses and the gables and the floor and everything like all vibrating and moving together because of these vibrations that were coming off of the ground through this structure and into me. And then it stopped.
21:48 I didn't hear any dogs or not dogs dog. I didn't hear any of that, and I didn't hear the these big banging, smashing like vibrational like feet hitting the ground at all. And so I'm laying there and at this point I'm I'm confidently able to say I was terrified. I didn't I didn't move at all. And it wasn't even that I was terrified, it was I was like paralyzed, like in fear, like quite literally. And and I'm listening and in the rain is pouring down rain, and you can you can hear the creek all the water like the rain drops hitting the creek, just smashing into the creek, and it's silent now there's not a sound but the pouring rain, and the rain like bouncing off the metal roof, and I'm laying there and I don't hear anything at all, and I'm trying to like figure out to myself. I'm like, did I lock that back door? Did I lock the door?
22:53 And I couldn't even I couldn't remember if I had locked the door at all. But I wasn't even going to look. I didn't look. I just I just laid there in this sleeping bag and and I didn't move, So I don't know. It seemed like an eternity, uh, in this sleeping bag, But it was probably only like five or ten seconds. Time went by as all of these things had happened. As I'm registering what's going on. And then on my side that wall, the Tea eleven wall, and this Tea eleven walls the same side as this glass the sliding glass door, but the sliding glass door doesn't close at all. Keep that in mind, it's wide open.
23:37 And so at this point at the very very back of the cabin where I am, uh, and the and the wall begins from the back door all the way to the side of where the glass door is up until that is all this TT one eleven and and I'm laying there and I start hearing this like weird noise, and I'm thinking to myself, like what is that noise? And it sounds like it sounds like dragging, like something's dragging across the across the wall right on the outside of the T one eleven and and it's it's like it would make it. I can't even describe the noise, but it's it would sound.
24:25 It sounded something like if you had a big, like like a big puffy snow jacket on and every time you move it, it makes that that sound. I can't even know how to make this sound, but it makes that sound, right. And if you put your arm or you like you rub it on something that makes this this like sound of like rubbing. Well that's what it sounded like. And and I heard it go from the very back of the cabin. I heard that rub, the slow dragging rub sound go kind of back and forth like like I don't know, like there was there was something out on the other side of the wall that was maybe using the cabin as cover, and it was I was imagining it in my mind because in my mind I had already told myself. I'm like, there's no way that's a guy. There's no way that's a big guy. There's no way it's a drunk dude. There's no way it's anything. Like my mind had already made up.
25:30 I'm like, this, absolutely, for sure is a sasquatch. Is one hundred percent is an absolute bigfoot that is outside right now. And the reason why I had deduced all this at the same time. Sorry, I'm giving so many details, but it's just important because that's how my mind is working right now. But I had deduced that when I heard this dog, either A the dog was running and being chased by a sasquatch, or B the sasquatch was being chased by a dog. That's what I had deduced. And and somehow this cabin and where I was was right in there in their line of direction, like this is where they both ended up, and this cabin happened to be there, and whatever happened on the outside happened, and then everything came to a sudden and immediate stop in a holt. And now there's a dog and there's a sasquatch where both of them are. I have no idea.
26:37 So now back to this this rubbing sound. So I pictured in my mind that that this what this was, was the entire side of the body, its shoulder, its legs, whatever, using the side of the of the cabin. Uh maybe for cover, I don't know, because because I didn't see it, and it was like pace seemed back and forth, because could I could hear it just dragging itself back and forth and then for a second. Maybe it was longer than that, but for me, it just seemed like a second because it was happening so fast, and that's how fast I was processing the information. But everything just stopped again at that point, like it dawned on me that the sliding glass door was open. Right, So I hear that noise again, and I hear on the stairs, on the stairs, something walk up the stairs. Or maybe it was just one stair, I don't know, because there was only three or four stairs. Maybe it was just one foot up but took a step and then planted one foot or one leg left or right, I'm not even sure inside the cabin. Or maybe it was an arm I don't know, because maybe this thing so big it couldn't get in. But something happened where it entered halfway into the structure through the sliding glass door. Now, whether
28:11 it was its arm or whether it was its leg or both, or one leg or two legs, I don't know because I didn't look, because I was in my sleeping bag and I didn't I didn't move a muscle. I knew at that point, like if this thing was inside the cabin or partially in it, and looking around, I'm pretty confident that if they're running through the forest at night, they can see at night as well. So I laid completely still. I didn't move a muscle, and I just laid there, absolutely paralyzed, numb in fear, and I didn't I didn't do anything. I tried to hold my breath until I passed out, but that didn't work out either. So I'm laying there and I hear it.
29:03 I at this point I can hear like noises, and like noises, what I mean by noises is like I didn't hear talking. I didn't hear I didn't hear like nostril breathing. But I I, how would I describe it? Like I heard inhaling and exhaling, But it didn't seem like it was coming from a nostril. It was almost like it was you know, if you breathe in, you take a big breath in and then you blow the air out, but you don't do it through your nose or an open mouth. You kind of you keep your your mouth closed and your teeth kind of closed, and you kind of push the air out through your teeth and out out out the h out your mouth, but without opening your mouth. It sounded like that. It sounded like it was trying to be quiet somehow, but with just the I don't know, the sheer body mass, the sheer size of it, like producing that much air would be really really difficult to minimize the sound signature of breathing.
30:11 But that's what I was hearing inside the sliding glass door. So I didn't move because I thought, like, Okay, even if it can see everything that is inside of here right now, it doesn't know what a sleeping bag is. All that it would see is definitely a horizontal object that is on the ground or on the floor, I should say. But it's not moving, it's not doing anything, and so I don't know. Maybe it's like it notices movement, then it might think of something you know, but I didn't move. So that went on, and honestly, I don't know how long that even happened or lasted for. And then all of a sudden, like I didn't hear it anymore, And then I could hear it again, that like weird scraping dragging sound on the side of the of the cabin again, and I thought to myself, I was like, oh, at this point, I thought, just for a split second, I said, I'm just gonna maybe if this thing is on the side now, it can't see in anymore because it's past the sliding glass door. It's headed towards the back door. But on the side is that sliding that little sliding window. And as it was making those noises, I was like, maybe if I'm quiet enough, I can
31:41 just slide myself up the side of the wall as quiet as I can slide that little window thing open and look and see. But I it sounds ridiculous, But I eliminated that idea almost as instantly as it can. I just thought like, that would be the dumbest idea because if if I saw something I didn't want to see and it saw me, for sure, something is going to go wrong, and something's something's going to happen, and I don't know what. So I just decided, you know what, I'm not going to uh, I'm not going to do that.
32:24 And I just I just I just laid there and I stayed flat. And then it kept raining and making all those pings off the off the metal roof, and I kept laying there, and at some point, at some point I had fallen back asleep. And I don't know when it was, I don't know how long it was, but at some point I fell right back asleep. And then the next the next thing I knew, I was awake again, and there was it was daylight, and there was all the light was coming through the sliding glass door, you know, because I peeped out the sleeping bag hole just to like see what was what, and it was daylight.
33:08 And at that point I was like, Hallelujah, Amen, baby Jesus. And I came out of the sleeping bag so fast, and I slot I opened that sliding door and nothing, obviously, nothing but a bunch of mud and a bunch of just water and just mud from the rain on it. And so I put on my boots or my shoes. I don't remember what I was wearing, shoes or boots one of the two Chris had. Chris wasn't there yet, and I didn't know what time it was, but it had to have been a little bit later because this is this was in late October, and so daylight wasn't coming until at least eight o'clock. So I was guessing it was somewhere around that time. Chris hadn't been there yet.
34:01 I had gone out, I went down the stairs. But before I did that, here here's the creepy thing. And I wish, I wish. Well, this was two thousand and six, so there was no camera phone stuff, or I didn't have a camera or anything. But before I got there, when I went to uh to go out the sliding glass door, if I'm walking out of it, like my left my left arm would have been on the left hand side right, so that means something facing in their right arm would have been where my left side was. But what I saw on the sliding glass door on the outside of it was a gargantuan handprint. And when I mean gargantuan sized handprint, I'm talking, Oh man, I don't even know the size of how big this handprint would have been probably the eyes of a five gallon bucket lid, and then add fingers on it. And those fingers that have been we'll just say the size of I don't know, man ah geez, I don't know, six or seven inch bottle of some kind or a spray paint can. That's how big these fingers were. And it was greasy. It was like it was like a greasy, greasy handprint right on the outside of the sliding glass door.
35:34 And what was really weird about it also, is it right at the bottom where the where the palm would have been, Well, that would have where the palm is. You could see that like how it had its hand it was. It wasn't straight on. It was kind of like sideways at like a forty five degree angle. And how I knew that is because you could see you could see the hair and stuff from the condensation on the outside of the uh of the sliding glass door. You could see where all the hair was, and you could see all the swirls and the mats of of of where the hair was on its arm. So it was almost like it put its arm up and then I would imagine it put its its leg in or its arm in or something. I don't know what, but something was inside. Maybe it was just the whole Torso I have no idea. So I saw that before I even went through the door, and I looked at it and I said, I said that it was for sure a sasquatch. One hundred percent. It was absolutely a sasquatch.
36:46 So I goed out, I go, I go down the little stairs and I'm looking look, I'm looking at it from the outside now, and it doesn't look as I don't know, cool or good. It didn't look as good as it did from the other side of the glass on the outside. From from looking at it on the inside. There was way, way, way, way more details. There was a lot more details than than how it looked on the outside. And I wish, I wish I had a camera. I wish I had a video camcorder or something, but I didn't, and and that that's that like that, I just didn't get to capture it. But it was there.
37:29 So now I'm doing the I'm doing the three sixty. Now I'm like walking around the entire the whole cabin. I'm looking around and I'm thinking. I'm just like, man, what was going on out here, like what what was what was happening out here with this dog in this and these giant vibrations and I see a handprint and I heard all the stuff that night, and I was scared and terrified, like what in the heck was going on? And so I went around the cabin thinking that like two or three times. I'm thinking to myself, and so I. Get back towards the towards the uh, the sliding glass door, and I'm standing there right, and I'm like maybe two or three feet in front of it, and I'm standing there and I'm looking around, and I'm just thinking. I was like, that's so weird because because there's like there's there's no dog prints and there wasn't even like a footprint or nothing. But I could understand because it was pouring down rain so much that it literally looked like just it's just mud. Like just even if there was prince the rest of the night pouring down rain, they would just be been destroyed. So I'm standing there and I'm looking and it dawned on me for some reason.
38:54 I was like, I thought to myself, I'm like, I'm just gonna I'm just gonna look underneath underneath the cabin, right. For some reason, I was like, well why not. You know, you looked around it three or four times. Nothing unusual here, So I'm just gonna look under and see what's going on. Well, I'll be damned here. You know what was underneath that cabin a dog. There was a dog underneath the cabin in the middle of like where the center would be, laying there scared out of its mind. This dog was underneath the cabin. And I said, I can't even believe it.
39:38 I can't even believe it. So what that tells me is either a like we were saying before, this dog was chasing this sasquatch, or it was getting chased by sasquatch. I don't know which of the two happened, but one of the two happened, and somehow this dog managed to get to safety underneath that cabin, right, And that's where it was that there was the dog under there. So now I'm trying to coax this dog out. I'm trying to get this dog out. The dog does not want to come out. The dog does not want to come out at all. And it's laying under there in the mud, and it's all dirty and Then at this time, like as I'm looking, I can hear Chris's diesel truck. He had a due. I could hear his diesel truck coming slowly down. I knew it was going to take her right because that's where that little the road is. And I heard the truck coming up. Then he pulls up and he's like, hey, what you doing? And I was just like I turned around. I looked at him, and I was like, there's a dog under the cabin. And he's like a dog. He's like, how did a dog get there? Where'd this dog come from? And I didn't tell him the story at all. I didn't tell him in at all on what had happened at all. And so as he was asking, he was like, yeah, I'm
41:09 gonna get some tools out of the truck and I'm gonna do this and that. And I was like, yeah, all right, that's fine. I'm gonna just be talking to this dog and trying to get this dog out. So Chris he goes around back at the duly and at this time, I go up with my shirt in my sleeve. I go up to the to the sliding glass window and I rubbed the whole print off with my arm. I rubbed it off the glass. I know it was probably the dumbest thing I could have ever done, but I did because I didn't want to get into like what had happened. I just wanted to just brush it off as this is what happened. I went to sleep, I woke up and there was a dog there. I'm ready to work. Let's get to work. That's what I wanted to happen. And that's basically what I did. Tell him that had happened, and he was like, yeah, that's so weird, man, that's weird. A dog just showed up, and uh yeah. So we we ended up getting the dog finally out, like he went over to I don't know, he got like some piece of meat or something. I don't know what he did, threw something out there, and the dog finally eventually came down because it smelt whatever Chris was. I was trying to feed the dog, but this dog wasn't. It wasn't an ordinary dog. This it was a hunting dog. It was one of those black labs, one of those bird dogs, and it had gun metal gray like spots and dots all over him like it was it was made for like duck hunting or something.
42:39 I don't know where the dog came from or or how far it had ran, or how far it had been chased or anything like that, but that's uh, that's how that dog appeared there. And I know it was one of the two it got chased or it was chasing. And and then after that, you know, the I kept the dog, kept it done at Chris's house, and Chris kept the dog, and and the rest is history. We continued building on that uh, on that little uh t Win eleven cabin. We we basically got it knocked out. Everything that I needed to do anyway was all done, and and then that was that. But but that's uh, that that's the story, that's the whole story. I know, you know, I didn't see a sasquatch or anything, but I'm one hundred percent sure that this definitely was a bigfoot, a sasquatch, and uh and it just for some reason happened that I was there when all of us happened.
43:43 And uh, at the end of the day, out of all of it, like got a new dog. I didn't get a new dog, but Chris got a new dog. And and that's the story. That's That's that's what happened there. Jeremiah Danny. That's that's an incredible thing to lived through. And you've actually you've actually answered a ton of questions that I had written down, but I do have a few more. So when you were when you uh, you're rubbing at the handprint on the class, Yeah, did it disappear right away? Or was it hard to get off the glass or how how was that?
44:23 Yeah? No, it it was. It wasn't hard and it wasn't easy. It seemed like it was really oily. It seemed like it was like very very very oily, and like the print itself like that that part, like it wasn't so hard to come off, but it seemed like where the arm was, like where the hair or the fur or whatever you want to call it, wherever that was that was. It wasn't hard because it like smeared, but it left it like an oily trace. Like it was really I don't know if it had oily skin. It was just really really dirty or it was, uh just it's sweat a lot. I don't know, but yeah, it smeared away, is what it did. It didn't just it didn't just disappear like smeared away.
45:11 Okay, gotcha. When you're in you're in that the small house that night and you're living through this, was there any smell at all during the entire experience? You know, That's another thing. And I'll say it for the second time because the first time I smell nothing either. I smell absolutely nothing, absolutely nothing at all, nothing. And I hear hundreds and I've heard thousands of stories because I listened to your podcast and I listened to others as well, and everybody that I hear has oh are there. They're always talking about pungent, terrible odors that smell like death and vomit and all this stuff. And I'm thinking to myself, like, I smelt nothing, and I and I quite literally was like a half an inch away through a T one eleven wall from this thing, and I smell absolutely nothing, nothing at all.
46:16 That is really strange. But you're You're absolutely right. It does kind of play in with your your other account that you had shared from up in Washington as well. So the house was kind of like on stilts, right. Yeah, Yeah, they were like they weren't like actually like stilts. It was like some or not somebody Chris had cut like a like a big six by six piece of wood and just cut like little two foot blocks from each of it, and then and then framed the house on top of these. So he would have he would have used probably there was like six of them, three on each side and then two in the middle, so he would have, uh, yeah, used eight of them. But they weren't like actual stilts like you know you would see coming out of the water for a dock or something.
47:06 It was nothing like that. There were just these big, big wedges that he put on the ground to keep the cabin at least two feet off the ground in the event of any kind of flood from that creek. Okay, yeah, that makes sense because what I was imagining there for earlier was you know, you've got a house on stilts and then you get something that could be extremely heavy. Then how did things react when it you know, it started putting its weight on there. But the way you just described it, you know, it's probably it probably was able to handle that better. Yeah, you know, yeah, definitely. I mean, like I said, yeah, he used I know for a fact they were six by six. It was just this this giant piece of six by six that he had and he cut it.
47:58 He cut eight wedges out of it, and like I said, they were maybe maybe two feet and there was only like two or three normal like stairs that you would have to go up to get through this sliding glass door. So yeah, absolutely, it wasn't like it was six or seven feet off the ground, No way, because I can imagine a six or seven feet off the ground of something got up there weighing a thousand pounds, it's gonna go through the floor, because you know, it was only T one eleven and nothing more than that. But frame, yeah, absolutely, Did you ever share the events of that night with the individuals that would be, you know, in that area, that would be living in that area.
48:48 Did they ever find out or no? You know, that's the funny thing is that I never told you. But here's the funny thing. Just actually recently, probably last year, I was talking to to Chris on the phone and I told him, I told him that I have I have a crazy Sasquatch story to tell him, and and and I told him it happened when when we were building that uh that little project that he had, and he's he he freaked out on me. He said, no way, you got to tell me. You gotta tell me. And I told him on the phone. I said, listen, Chris, like, I'll tell you in person when we when we can sit down, have a fire or whatever, and I'll tell you in person man, and then and then we can we can go over everything. But he he was really he had no idea because I played it off really really well. But now he does know that that it happened, and and and he'll find out how he got that dog.
49:53 But but keep in mind, this was this was twenty years ago. Actually, yeah, this is twenty years ago now, so obviously the dog is long gone. But it'll give him a better understanding of why that dog was there and how it came to be that he became the owner of it because I couldn't take it because I was in the military. That's why. That is absolutely wild. Oh my goodness. What so remind me, did this happen before the Skimania experience or after? No, this was after this? This was after that happened. Yeah, yeah, this was definitely after Yeah. Uh yeah, like I said, but I you know, I didn't I didn't see anything.
50:35 But you know, I'm pretty sure if I would have just had the nerve to even look out my sleeping bag. You know what, I probably wouldn't have saw anything anyway, because it was pitch black, and the only way I would it was if I turned on my lanterns or something, you know, but that would have been a really dumb idea. That's that is one of those things, right, I've been in that situation where something's walking around my ten at three am and like I should No, I think I'm just gonna be freaked out here. That's exactly how I felt. Yeah, yeah, it was. It was the Yeah, I had a battle going on with myself.
51:16 I wanted to so bad. Maybe I would have saw something that I just did not want to see. For all I know, it could have been. It could have been anything. You know what, what if it would have been the dog man? What was they gonna do? Then? You know, I have no idea, but I know it was something, whether it was a sasquatch or a dog man. But yeah, I wish I would have done it, I really do, but it just didn't happen that way. Yeah, I mean some people might not be aware, but I mean there are dog man reports. I mean I've taken one specifically, from further south down Detroit area, So there's stuff down there. In addition to sasquestion, I'm sure there's stuff up in Mount Hood National Forest besides Bigfoot.
52:03 I mean there's a lot of Yeah, now no motorized use area up there, for sure. Yeah, I've been to a lot of a lot of those areas. Yeah, there's a yeah, I don't I don't know what what the uh the whole story is of everything up there, but there's definitely more than for sure, Sasquatching dog Man. I've heard some pretty crazy stories about some some other stuff up there by the Ape Caves. That's yeah, yeah, yeah. I have some buddies actually in high school that went up to the Eight Caves. They had heard a I don't know if this is off topic or anything during this session here, but there there was this this this is back in the nineties before he graduated high school, and there was a story one of my buddies had heard. It was a story as an indigenous, a Native American story about this thing called the deer dog. And there was like, there's this like creature that's up around that area of the Aide Caves called the deer Dog. And yeah, I guess my h yeah, my buddy. I didn't go, but he he went up there with a couple other friends. And it's a totally crazy story. I could tell it sometime, but like he basically he saw the deer dog, I guess, and to me it sounded like a dog man. But I mean, I don't know, it's getting off topic, but yeah, there's
53:34 this thing called the deer dog, and and how the story goes. It's kind of a long story. But when when you when you hear it, you may you kind of deduced that it was either a dog man or some kind of like skin walker thing or something. Yeah, but it was some weird, weird thing because it involved like him going up in like the middle of the night on the weekend while we're in high school, you know, sixteen years old as driver's license and finding a naked person in the middle of the road up there, and then they disappear. And then when he's like driving back then the naked person where the naked person was there was this deer dog thing. Was It was a crazy story. Yeah.
54:20 Wow, from being out there and spending a few hours one afternoon, which is really a drop in the bucket, but even in that short amount of time being out in the woods, and I feel that people like Cliff Berrickman are positioned in the best place that they can be, because I honestly think that if we ever get to the point where Bigfoot's going to be, you know, there's going to be a huge discovery like it will it'll absolutely happen in this mount Hood National Force. I mean, it is so so crazy and the stuff that we saw in a few hours just blew me away. And that's that's all in the video I put out where I went around with Frank. People can watch that, but uh, my goodness, Danny, what what a cool, cool encounter. It's one of those.
55:08 Man. It was it hard to go back into the woods for a while after that, or even go up into that area. Did it affect you in any way? No, Well, you know here, here's the thing about that is is even if I wanted to, I wasn't able to because I was in the military. So like going back, like, yeah, you get leave, you get leave two times a year, you know, you get your summer vacation and Christmas vacation and that's it. And other than that, you get like a forty eight hour pass on the weekends. If you're lucky, wait, when you know you're you're in your first four years at that point. I was in my first six years at that point, so I wasn't getting much of anything, you know. So if you got you were lucky. If you got to put in leave when when the leave wasn't annual, and to get it even approved was even a bigger miracle, you know. So the reason actually I didn't even I left that detail out. The reason I had that leave initially is because my niece's birthday was October twenty ninth, and I wanted to be there for her birthday. So I had put in for some leave to get it, and by a miracle, I got the leave, and I happened to be working there with Chris, and then I had the birthday with my niece, and yeah, that's how that cookie crumbled. But anyways, yeah, so no, to answer your question, no, I didn't even have a chance to go back out into the forest out there,
56:38 And to be honest, I haven't been out there with Chris or back to Esticada actually since that happened. Wow, is that something where you would hopefully be able to go back there one day or do you not really have a desire to do that? Oh? Yeah, absolutely, I would one hundred percent go back out there, not even just to go like looking for a sasquatch or anything, but just to go out there and see, like, what's going on with this little cabin that I built twenty years ago, you know, what has happened since, because I would imagine that her father passed on. He was pretty old at that point, so, you know, just to see like what's been going on for the last twenty years up there, you know. But I always have, you know, a desire to be out in the forest and not intentionally looking at all, but to go out there because you don't have to look. You really don't.
57:39 If you're gonna be seen and found, it's gonna find you. That. That's kind of how I think of it. You don't. You can't really go out there, you know and be like, well, I'm gonna if I stay out here for five days and if I do just enough tree knocks, just enough crazy howls, leave enough apples, then I'm gonna get a sasquatch. I don't subscribe to that at all. I truly do believe that if you're going to see what it's because a sasquatch, he's more interested in you than you are of it. Yeah, one hundred percent, and just go out there and hang out and really definitely, goodness, that's really all you have to do if you're in the right area.
58:19 That's crazy. Yeah, you need to just go into a super super dark, old growth forest anywhere in Washington or Oregon and you stay out there for a couple of days, and I'm pretty sure you're going to attract the attention of something out there, that's for sure. Absolutely well, Danny, thank you so much for coming on and for sharing. What happened to you out there in Estacada is just it's a wild account. It's one of those that, I mean, you put it together with everything else that's happened out there is such a wild area. But I want to make sure that you were able to share everything that you'd come to the show to share today.
59:02 Definitely, absolutely. I wish I had more stories, you know, but I don't, you know, but that gives me. It gives me time to perhaps encounter something else now now that I am kind of free to do that, go to the forest of my own free time now, So hopefully, you know, maybe something else will happen, not because I wanted to, but just because things will just happen that way. But yeah, I'm really happy I could share these stories. And I think, like I said the last time, I had been like suppressing these for a long time, not because I wanted to, just because I had other responsibilities in my life, other things that were front and center that I had to focus on far more important than Sasquatch stories, you know. And now that I'm not in that environment anymore, I have the time to be able to do that, to tell these stories, you know. So it's kind of even though we're a world apart and we're on a computer, it's kind of like we're at the twenty first century campfire, you know, in the digital realm here, and I'm able to tell my campfire story to everybody else on the same platform who can pull up a seat, grab a hot chocolate, and just hear a story. You know.
1:00:18 But oh, that's great. I love it. That's that's great. Yeah. Yeah, I mean I hope people can imagine it very very well. I hope I gave enough description, enough details where people can use their imagination to kind of process what was going on? And yeah, and just enjoy it. And I look forward to hearing other people's stories because I live vicariously through others just as much as they do through me. So yeah, well, there you go. And Danny, please definitely keep in touch if you ever do have any other you know, things happen out there when you're in the woods. We'd love to hear about it. But thank you so much for spending some time out of your day. And Aaron, what happened to you out there in Oregon?
1:01:03 Hundred percent? Jere of my pleasure was mine. Have you ever heard all the accounts of bigfoot activity around Oakridge, Oregon?
