UPDATE: A section of Bluff Trail on Lookout Mountain remains closed following multiple reports of “aggressive wildlife”—and as of September 17, I still cannot find an official statement identifying the animal involved. The comments have theories: hornets, snakes, rabies, feral people, Mothman, Ol’ Green Eyes and even animals reacting to nearby data centers. Those are viewer theories. The confirmed information remains much simpler: the National Park Service received multiple reports serious enough to temporarily close part of the trail, and the publicly available information does not identify the wildlife.
