A Montana bowhunter survived a grizzly attack—and somehow managed to drive himself home afterward. The September 14 attack happened on state land near Elk Creek and Haystack Butte southwest of Augusta. Investigators used bear hair, tracks and other evidence to confirm a grizzly was responsible. Then investigators found a domestic cow carcass about 150 yards from the attack site. Ultimately, three cattle carcasses in the area were determined to have been killed by a grizzly. An adult female grizzly was euthanized nearby because of the livestock depredations, although officials say they do not know whether she was the bear that attacked the hunter. The affected state land remains closed for the time being. #montana #bear #publishtoall
